The Ministry of Culture of Romania ( ro, Ministerul Culturii) is one of the ministries of the Government of Romania. The current position holder is Lucian Romașcanu from the Social Democratic Party (PSD). The ''Romanian National Institute of Historical Monuments'', part of this ministry, maintains the list of historical monuments in Romania. The list, created in 2004–2005, contains historical monuments entered in the National Cultural Heritage of Romania. Lucian Romașcanu
Lucian N. Romașcanu (born 19 May 1967) is a Romanian politician serving as Minister of Culture from 2021 to 2023. A member of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), he has been Senator for Buzău since 2016. He previously served as Culture Minister from 2017 to 2018. Romașcanu was elected for Buzău at the 2016 legislative election. Following Mihai Tudose's appointment as Prime Minister, Romașcanu was appointed Minister of Culture. From January 2017, he served as Chairman of the Committee on Culture and Media of the Senate. In August 2020, after it was shown that he had sworn at journalists before a press conference, Romașcanu was dismissed as spokesman of the PSD. Romașcanu served as Leader of the PSD in the Senate from 2020 to 2021. Under Nicolae Ciucă, Romașcanu was reinstated to his previous role of Minister of Culture. The Christian Democratic National Peasants' Party ( ro, Partidul Național Țărănesc Creștin Democrat, officially abbreviated PNȚCD) is a Christian democratic and agrarian political party in Romania. It claims to be the rightful successor of the interwar '' National Peasants' Party'' (PNȚ), created from the merger of the Romanian National Party (PNR) from the then Austro-Hungarian-ruled Transylvania and the Peasants' Party (PȚ) from the Romanian Old Kingdom. PNȚCD was the largest and most important political party of the Romanian Democratic Convention ( ro, Convenția Democrată Română, CDR) during the 1990s and was led by Corneliu Coposu and Ion Diaconescu, two former political prisoners during Communism, but as the 2000s began it gradually feel out of grace amongst centre-right Romanian voters and slowly became an inactive microparty. Hunor Kelemen (born 18 October 1967) is a Romanian politician and Hungarian language writer. The current president of the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR), he has been a member of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies since 2000, and was nominated as his party's candidate for the 2009, 2014, and 2019 presidential elections. Emil Boc
Emil Boc (; born 6 September 1966) is a Romanian politician who was Prime Minister of Romania from 22 December 2008 until 6 February 2012 and is the current Mayor of Cluj-Napoca, the largest city of Transylvania, where he was first elected in July 2004. Boc was also the president of the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL), which proposed and supported him as Prime Minister in late 2008, from December 2004 until July 2012. On 13 October 2009, his cabinet fell after losing a motion of no confidence in Parliament. The Democratic Liberal Party ( ro, Partidul Democrat-Liberal, PDL) was a liberal-conservative political party in Romania. The party was formed on 15 December 2007, when the Democratic Party (PD) merged with the Liberal Democratic Party (PLD). On 17 November 2014 the PDL officially merged into the National Liberal Party (PNL), ceasing to exist. Theodor Paleologu (; born July 15, 1973) is a Romanian historian, diplomat and politician. The National Liberal Party ( ro, Partidul Național Liberal, PNL) is a liberal-conservative political party in Romania (and the second largest overall political party in the country as of 2022). Re-founded in mid January 1990, shortly after the Revolution of 1989 which culminated in the fall of communism in Romania, it claims the legacy of the major political party of the same name, active between 1875 and 1947 in the Kingdom of Romania. Based on this legacy, it often presents itself as the first formally constituted political party in the country and the oldest party from the family of European liberal parties. Adrian Năstase (; born 22 June 1950) is a Romanian jurist, academic/professor, blogger, and former politician who served as the Prime Minister of Romania from October 2000 to December 2004. He competed in the 2004 presidential election as the Social Democratic Party (PSD) candidate, but was defeated by the centre-right Justice and Truth Alliance (DA) candidate Traian Băsescu who pertained at that time to the Democratic Party (PD).
