The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia ( ka, საქართველოს საგარეო საქმეთა მინისტრი) is the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, the governmental body of Georgia responsible for protecting and promoting Georgia’s interest and its persons and entities abroad. The minister is a member of the Cabinet of Georgia. The current minister is Ilia Darchiashvili, who was appointed on April 4, 2022 by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. Ilia Darchiashvili
Ilia Darchiashvili ( ka, ილია დარჩიაშვილი; born 21 February 1981) is a Georgian government official, diplomat, and a former bank manager, serving as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia since 4 April 2022. Education and early career Born in Sighnaghi in then-Soviet Georgia, Darchiashvili graduated from the Tbilisi State University (TSU) with a degree in economics in 2002. He further obtained master's degrees in economics and business administration from the TSU in 2004 and Grenoble School of Management, France, in 2011, respectively. Alexander Svanidze
Alexander Semyonovich "Alyosha" Svanidze ( ka, ალექსანდრე სვანიძე; russian: Александр Семёнович Сванидзе) (1886 – 20 August 1941) was a Georgian Old Bolshevik, politician and historian. He was a personal friend of Joseph Stalin and a brother of Stalin’s first wife Kato. Nevertheless, Stalin had him arrested during the Great Purge in 1937 and he was shot in prison in 1941. Murman Omanidze
Murman Omanidze ( ka, მურმან ომანიძე; November 5, 1938 – November 20, 2020) was a Georgian politician and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia in 1991. Career Born in Tbilisi, Omanidze graduated from the Faculty of International Law, Tbilisi State University. He headed a legal department of the state-run agricultural company Suplmsheni from 1977 to 1985 and worked as a manager at the Ministry of Construction of the Georgian SSR from 1985 to 1989. During the rise of anti-Soviet and independence movement, Omanidze joined the Afghan Union of Georgia, an organization of the Georgian veterans of the Soviet–Afghan War, being its deputy chairman from 1990 to 1991.
