Minister For Justice (Sweden)
The Minister for Justice ( sv, justitieminister) is the justice minister of Sweden and head of the Ministry of Justice. The current Minister for Justice is Gunnar Strömmer of the Moderate Party. History The office was instituted in 1809 as a result of the constitutional Instrument of Government promulgated in the same year. Until 1876 the office was called Prime Minister for Justice ( sv, justitiestatsminister), similar to the office of Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs ( sv, utrikesstatsminister). Until 1840, the Prime Minister for Justice also served as a member of the Supreme Court. Following the ministry reform in 1840, the Prime Minister for Justice became head of the newly instituted Ministry of Justice. In 1876 the office proper of Prime Minister of Sweden was created and at the same time the Minister for Justice was created. Lesser Coat Of Arms Of Sweden
The coat of arms of the Kingdom of Sweden ( sv, Sveriges riksvapen) has a greater and a lesser version. Regulated usage The usage of the coats of arms is regulated by Swedish Law, Actbr>1970:498 which states (in unofficial translation) that "in commercial activities, the coats of arms, the flag or other official insignia of Sweden may not be used in a trademark or other insignias for products or services without proper authorisation. This includes any mark or text referring to the Swedish State which this can give the commercial mark a sign of official endorsement. This includes municipal coats of arms which are registered." Any representation consisting of three crowns ordered two above one are considered to be the lesser coat of arms, and its usage is therefore restricted by law 1970:498. Arvid Mauritz Posse
Arvid Mauritz Posse (5 January 1792 – 22 July 1850) was a Swedish politician, count and Marshal of the Realm, who served as Prime Minister for Justice in 1840 and between 1846–1848. Biography Posse was born into a noble family, as the son of Count and Lord of the Realm Arvid Erik Posse and his wife, the baroness Catharina Charlotta von Otter. The family was of Jutlandic origin and belonged to the high nobility, having been raised to countship in 1706. Posse received his education at Lund University. He went on to work at Göta Court of Appeal and later became an assessor at the Svea Court of Appeal in 1816. Prior to his appointment as Prime Minister for Justice, Posse had served as governor of Skaraborg County as well as director-general of the Swedish Customs Service. Axel Örbom
Carl Gustaf Axel Örbom (29 July 1836 – 30 May 1889), was a Swedish jurist and government figure who, in the final eight months of his life, served as the Minister for Justice. In law, a person is acting in a position if they are not serving in the position on a permanent basis. This may be the case if the position has not yet been formally created, the person is only occupying the position on an interim basis, the person does not have a mandate, or if the person meant to execute the role is incompetent or incapacitated. Louis De Geer (1818-1896)
Baron Louis Gerard De Geer af Finspång (18 July 181824 September 1896) was a Swedish statesman and writer. He was born at Finspång Castle in Risinge parish. He was a lawyer, and in 1855 became president of the Göta hovrätt, or lord justice for the appellate court of Götaland. From 7 April 1858 to 3 June 1870 he was Prime Minister for Justice and again from 11 May 1875 to 20 March 1876. As a member of the nobility, he took part in the Swedish Riksdag of the Estates from 1851 onwards. From 1867 to 1878 he was the member for Stockholm in the first chamber in the New Riksdag, where he introduced and passed many useful reforms. Claës Günther
Claës Efraim Günther (29 or 30 December 1799 – 23 July 1861) was a Swedish politician and jurist who served as Prime Minister of Sweden, Prime Minister for Justice between 1856–1858. Biography Günther was born into a noble family in Örebro, as the son of Christian Ernst Günther and Agneta Charlotta Carpelan. The family was of Prussian origin and had been raised to the untitled nobility in 1720. He received his education at Uppsala University, obtaining a Master of Philosophy in 1824. Upon finishing his studies he went on to work as a notary at the Svea Court of Appeal. Günther first entered politics acting as a representative of the nobility at the Riksdag of the Estates in 1828. Gustaf Adolf Vive Sparre af Söfdeborg (4 September 1802 – 26 April 1886) was a Swedish nobleman, civil servant and politician. He was Sweden's Prime Minister for Justice, and later served as Chancellor of the Universities, and Marshal of the Realm, as well as several other offices. Biography Sparre was born in 1802 into the comital ''af Söfdeborg'' branch of the House of Sparre. He enrolled at Uppsala University in 1816 and graduated in 1823, after which he began his career as a jurist. In 1848 Sparre was chosen as Prime Minister for Justice, and had to deal with the Revolutions of 1848 as well as the reactionary response in the subsequent years.
