Minister For Foreign Affairs Of Abkhazia
The office of Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia was created on 17 May 1993, during the 1992–1993 war with Georgia. Due to the diplomatic isolation of Abkhazia, which remains widely unrecognised, the role of the foreign minister has been restricted mostly to negotiations over resolving the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict. Empirical data nevertheless show that Abkhazia's Foreign Ministry also enacts (mostly low-level) diplomatic relations, such as the sending of diplomatic notes, with various countries across the world, including Nauru, Vanuatu, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Syria. It is also active in managing relations with other post-Soviet de facto states such as South Ossetia, Transnistria, or Lugansk People's Republic. Inal Ardzinba
Inal Batuvych Ardzinba ( ab, Инал Арӡынба; ; russian: Инал Батувич Ардзинба; born 26 July 1990) is the current Minister for Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia. According to Yevgeny Yasin, former president of Abkhazia Vladislav Ardzinba is Inal Ardzinba's uncle. Beginning in 2014, Ardzinba worked in the Presidential Administration of Russia, eventually becoming deputy of Vladislav Surkov, then an Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation. Tangerine Revolution
Presidential elections were held in Abkhazia on 3 October 2004, the first that were competitive. Election law prohibited incumbent President Vladislav Ardzinba from running for a third term and he instead backed Prime Minister Raul Khadjimba, who also enjoyed support from the Russian authorities. Khadjimba's main opponent was Sergei Bagapsh, who was supported by the two major opposition parties, United Abkhazia and Amtsakhara, and later also by Aitaira when their candidate Alexander Ankvab was barred from running in a controversial decision by the Central Election Commission. Bagapsh won in the first round with just over 50% of the vote. Igor Muratovich Akhba ( Abkhaz: Игор Мурат-иҧа Ахба; ka, იგორ ახბა; russian: Игорь Муратович Ахба) (born 5 February 1949) is an Abkhaz diplomat and politician. From 2008 until 2021 he was the first ambassador of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Russian Federation, and in 2004 he was for a short time the Minister for Foreign Affairs of his country. Gueorgui Otyrba is an Abkhazian politician and academic. He was the first Human Rights Commissioner of Abkhazia between 2007 and 2016 and acting Foreign Affairs Minister between June and July 2004.
