This article lists the members of the 39th Parliament of Canada and their voting records in regards to the ''Civil Marriage Act''. Bill C-38 amended the ''Marriage Act'' of Canada to recognize same-sex marriage. The 39th Canadian parliament, 39th Parliament was elected at the 2006 Canadian federal election, federal election of January 23, 2006. The Conservative leader, Stephen Harper, who was then leader of the opposition campaigned on holding another free vote on the issue, after one Members of the 38th Canadian Parliament and same-sex marriage, was held in the 38th Parliament to approve the Act. Lawrence Cannon
Lawrence Cannon, (born December 6, 1947) is a Canadian politician from Quebec and Prime Minister Stephen Harper's former Quebec lieutenant. In early 2006, he was made the Minister of Transport. On October 30, 2008, he relinquished oversight of Transport and was sworn in as Minister of Foreign Affairs. He was defeated in the 2011 federal election by the NDP's Mathieu Ravignat. Jonquière—Alma was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 2004 to 2011. It was created in 2003 from parts of Jonquière and Lac-Saint-Jean—Saguenay ridings. Jean-Pierre Blackburn, (born July 6, 1948) is a Canadian politician and diplomat. He was the Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) for the riding of Jonquière—Alma from 2006 to 2011; earlier, he was the Progressive Conservative MP for Jonquière from 1984 to 1993. Beauce is a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1867. In 2006, it had a population of 103,617 people, of whom 82,123 were eligible voters. Maxime Bernier (born January 18, 1963) is a Canadian politician who is the founder and leader of the People's Party of Canada (PPC). John Russell Baird (born May 26, 1969) is a retired Canadian politician. He served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2011 to 2015 in the cabinet of Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
