Martin De Vries (basketball Player)
Martin de Vries (born 7 April 1960) is a Dutch former professional basketball player. After playing eight seasons for Donar, his jersey number 10 was retired by the club. De Vries started playing for Donar in 1979, at age 19. From 1983 to 1986, he played for BV Orca's and Hatrans Haaksbergen. He also played 27 games for the Netherlands men's national basketball team The Netherlands men's national basketball team ( nl, Het Nederlands nationaal basketbalteam) represents the Netherlands in international basketball matches. Donar, also known as Donar Groningen, is a professional basketball club based in Groningen, Netherlands. The club competes in the BNXT League and its home arena is MartiniPlaza, which has a seating capacity of 4,350 people. Donar is one of the traditional first division clubs along with Den Bosch, as it entered the league years ago. The club won the national DBL championship seven times; in 1982, 2004, 2010, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Donar was runner-up in the seasons: 1998, 2006, 2011, 2015.
