Marquess of Villabrágima ( es, Marqués de Villabrágima) is a hereditary title in the Peerage of Spain, granted in 1693 by Charles II to Baltasar Enríquez de Cabrera, knight of the Order of Santiago and grandson of the Duke of Medina de Rioseco. At the death of the 1st marquess, the title became vacant until Alfonso XIII rehabilitated it in 1914 on behalf of Álvaro de Figueroa y Alonso-Martínez, son of the Count of Romanones and a descendant of the first marquess. The title makes reference to the town of Villabrágima in Valladolid. The Order of Santiago (; es, Orden de Santiago ), is a religious and military order founded in the 12th century. It owes its name to the Patron Saint of Spain, "Santiago" (St. James the Greater). Its initial objective was to protect the pilgrims on the Way of St. James, to defend Christendom and to remove the Muslim Moors from the Iberian Peninsula. Entrance was not however restricted to nobility of Spain exclusively, and many members have been prominent Catholic Europeans in general. The Order's insignia is particularly recognisable and abundant in Western art. Alfonso XIII (17 May 1886 – 28 February 1941), also known as El Africano or the African, was King of Spain from 17 May 1886 to 14 April 1931, when the Second Spanish Republic was proclaimed.
