Maritime Alps
The Maritime Alps (french: Alpes Maritimes ; it, Alpi Marittime ) are a mountain range in the southwestern part of the Alps. They form the border between the French region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and the Italian regions of Piedmont and Liguria. They are the southernmost part of the Alps. Geography Administratively the range is divided between the Italian provinces of Cuneo and Imperia (eastern slopes) and the French department of Alpes-Maritimes (western slopes). The Maritime Alps are drained by the rivers Roya, Var and Verdon and their tributaries on the French side; by the Stura di Demonte and other tributaries of the Tanaro and Po on the Italian side. Maritime (band)
Maritime is an American indie pop band formed in 2003 after the breakup of The Promise Ring and The Dismemberment Plan. Career The Promise Ring released their fourth studio album ''Wood/Water'' in April 2002; by October of that year, the band had broken up. Davey von Bohlen and Dan Didier of the Promise Ring started a band called In English. The pair came up with an album's worth of tracks that they subsequently demoed. They received interest from the Promise Ring's previous label Anti-; Bohlen said they made a deal over the phone where Anti would pay for the two to record an album. By June 2003, Eric Axelson of the Dismemberment Plan, who had broken up around the time that the Promise Ring did, had joined In English, which would rename themselves to Maritime. Bohlen had met Axelson at a Dismemberment Plan gig several years prior before either that band or the Promise Ring had released an album. Augury is a progressive death metal band from Montreal, Quebec who released their debut album, '' Concealed'' in September 2004 on Galy Records, and a follow-up, '' Fragmentary Evidence'', in July 2009 on Nuclear Blast Records. Their third album was released in 2018 on The Artisan Era. History Although the idea to create the band had been in discussions between members since they met in 1997, the formation of Augury did not take place until 2002 when lead guitarist Mathieu Marcotte left his band Spasme, and began to audition drummers. He was soon joined by Dominic "Forest" Lapointe of Atheretic fame on bass, and Arianne Fleury on vocals. Vocalist and guitarist Patrick Loisel joined in February 2002 after leaving the band Kralizec.
