Malta International Football Tournament
The Malta International Tournament was a biannual association football friendly competition for national teams organised by the Malta Football Association that took place in Malta between 1986 and 2008. Initially, the tournament included the participation of football clubs, but starting from 1988 this was revamped to include only national A teams. Usually played in February, the competition involved a single round-robin phase where each team played once against each other. Teams are ranked by points and at the end of the competition, the team with the most points is crowned champion. Up till 2004, the competition was sponsored by Rothmans and was known as the Rothmans Tournament for sponsorship reasons. Carmel Busuttil
Carmel Busuttil (born 29 February 1964), nicknamed "Il-Bużu", is a Maltese former professional footballer who played as a striker. Regarded as one of the best Maltese players of all time, he began his career with his hometown club Rabat Ajax winning two Premier League titles, two Super Cups and an FA Trophy. After a year spell with Verbania in Italy, Busuttil joined Genk in 1988. He was a prominent figure in the Belgian side, where he served as club captain and was the team's top scorer for three consecutive seasons. Busuttil returned to Malta to join Sliema Wanderers where he won another Premier League title. He finished off his career in 2001 as one of the highest goalscorers in Premier League history with 93 goals. At international level, Busuttil made his debut for the Maltese national team in 1982. Marians Pahars
Marians Pahars (born 5 August 1976) is a Latvian professional football manager and a former player. As a player, he spent the majority of his career operating as a striker for English club Southampton, where he played in the Premier League and the Championship, the latter of which he played during his final season for the club. Furthermore, he had two spells at Skonto in the Latvian Higher League. He also made 75 appearances for the Latvian national team, scoring 15 goals over an eleven-year period. Having retired from football, Pahars entered a career in coaching, starting as assistant at Skonto, which resulted in his first appointment as a manager. He went on to manage Latvia at under-21 and senior level, before returning to club management with Jelgava. Mikhail Kavelashvili
Mikheil Kavelashvili ( ka, მიხეილ ყაველაშვილი; born 22 July 1971) is a Georgian politician and former professional footballer. He is the co-founder of People's Power party. As a player he was a striker who notably played in the Premier League for Manchester City and in the Swiss Super League for Grasshoppers, Zürich, Luzern, Sion, Aarau and Basel. He also played for Dinamo Tbilisi and Spartak Vladikavkaz. He was capped 46 times by Georgia, scoring nine goals. He moved into Politics in 2016 was elected to the Parliament of Georgia in the Georgian Dream party before leaving to co-found the People's Power party. Gocha Jamarauli ( ka, გოჩა ჯამარაული; born 23 July 1971) is a Georgian former professional football midfielder. He collected 62 caps and as of 2008 is the fourth most capped player in Georgia. Club career His club career started in FC Dinamo Tbilisi when Georgian football league was formed in 1990, the Dinamo team won several titles in a row, and Jamarauli was a key player during this period. In 1996, he wanted to play abroad, and moved to Russian ( North Ossetian) team FC Alania Vladikavkaz, and the next season to Trabzonspor of Turkey. Neither spell was very successful, so he got a transfer to Swiss club FC Zürich in summer 1998 where he spent four seasons until leaving following a contract dispute. Primož Gliha (born 8 October 1967) is a Slovenian professional football coach and former player who last managed Kosovo national team as caretaker. International career On 3 June 1992, Gliha made his debut with Slovenia in a friendly match against Estonia after being named in the starting line-up.
