Magister Degree
A magister degree (also magistar, female form: magistra; from la, magister, "teacher") is an academic degree used in various systems of higher education. The magister degree arose in medieval universities in Europe and was originally equal to the doctorate; while the doctorate was originally conferred in theology, law and medicine, the magister degree was usually conferred in the liberal arts, broadly known as "philosophy" in continental Europe, which encompassed all other academic subjects. In some countries, the title has retained this original meaning until the modern age, while in other countries, magister has become the title of a lower degree, in some cases parallel with a master's degree (whose name is cognate). ''Berryteuthis magister'', also known as the magister armhook squid, commander squid or schoolmaster gonate squid, is a medium-sized squid in the family Gonatidae. It is found in cold, high latitude waters of the North Pacific where it is among the most numerous squid species recorded. There are three recognised subspecies of ''B. magister''. The type locality of all three is Japan, although specimens have been recorded as far east as the Aleutian Islands. Description The cylindrical bodies of magister armhook squid are muscular with very soft reddish brown skin. Like all gonatids, the suckers of their arms are arranged in four rows or ''series''. But unlike other gonatids it is in females only that the suckers are modified into hooks; these hooks are on the mesial rows of the dorsal arms only. Aldo Novarese
Aldo Novarese (29 June 1920 – 16 September 1995) was an Italian type designer who lived and worked mostly in Turin. Training and career Born in 1920, he entered the G.B. Paravia Typographic School in Turin, where he obtained a diploma. In 1935 he joined the Design Studio of The Nebiolo Foundry in Turin where he collaborated with Alessandro Butti on faces such as Athenaeum, Quirinus, Normandia, Augustea, Microgramma, Fluidum and Rondine. In 1952, giorni in recognition of his uncommon talent he was appointed Director of Nebiolo Art Studio. Since then he designed many new typefaces, among others Cigno, Egizio, Ritmo, Fontanesi, Juliet, Slogan, Garaldus and Recta. Magister Wigbold
Magister Wigbold (died 1401), (alternative spellings: Wygbold, Wycholt), also called “Master of the Seven Arts” was a German pirate who belonged to the famous Likedeeler pirates of Klaus Störtebeker who were active in the North and Baltic seas. Wigbold was one of the most noted Likedeeler, along with Gödeke Michels and Störtebeker. The nickname Wigbold comes from ''wig'' (strife) and ''bold'' (courageous, bold). Whether Wigbold was a nickname, or possibly his real name, is unknown. Life Nothing is known about Wigbold's early life. Contemporary chronicles call him a Master of the Seven Arts. According to the historian Ludwig Bühnau, he may have attended university at Oxford. His name or variants of it are however not listed in A.B. Dositheus Magister ( grc, Δωσίθεος) was a Greek grammarian who flourished in Rome in the 4th century AD. Life He was the author of a Greek translation of a Latin grammar, intended to assist the Greek-speaking inhabitants of the empire in learning Latin. The translation, at first word for word, becomes less frequent, and finally is discontinued altogether. The Latin grammar used was based on the same authorities as those of Charisius and Diomedes Grammaticus, which accounts for the many points of similarity. Dositheus contributed very little of his own. Some Greek-Latin exercises by an unknown writer of the 3rd century, to be learnt by heart and translated, were added to the grammar. ''Sceloporus magister'', also known as the desert spiny lizard, is a lizard species of the family Phrynosomatidae, native to the Chihuahuan Desert and Sonoran Desert of North America. The Dungeness crab (''Metacarcinus magister'') is a species of crab inhabiting eelgrass beds and water bottoms along the west coast of North America. It typically grows to across the carapace and is a popular seafood. Its common name comes from Dungeness Spit, United States, which shelters a shallow bay inhabited by the crabs. The Miles M.14 Magister is a two-seat monoplane basic trainer aircraft designed and built by the British aircraft manufacturer Miles Aircraft. It was affectionately known as the ''Maggie''. It was authorised to perform aerobatics. The Magister was developed during the 1930s to Specification T.40/36, itself derived from the existing Miles Hawk Trainer which had been ordered in small numbers. The first prototype's maiden flight was on 20 March 1937.
