The MTV Europe Music Awards (originally named MTV European Music Awards, commonly abbreviated as MTV EMA) are awards presented by Paramount International Networks to honour artists and music in pop culture. It was originally conceived as an alternative to the MTV Video Music Awards, which are hosted annually in the United States. The Europe Music Awards are held every year in a different country; it has been hosted mostly in the United Kingdom. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists, and the presentation of those awards that have a more popular interest. Mirella Cesa
Mirella Cesa (born December 18, 1984, in Guayaquil) is an Ecuadorian singer who has won several awards and been called the "mother of Andipop" (Andean pop music). Early life When Mirella was young, she would visit her aunt who would play music by Armando Manzanero, Leo Dan, Ana Belén, Vikki Carr, among others. She was considered an "old" young person, because she liked to listen to meaningful "grown up" music. She began singing at the gatherings of her friends and family, church, and parties. She then began guitar lessons to supplement her songwriting and singing. One day after graduating from high school, she traveled to Miami to seek musical opportunities. Carolina Giraldo Navarro (born 14 February 1991), known professionally as Karol G (stylized in all caps), is a Colombian singer and songwriter. 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards
The 2018 MTV EMAs (also known as the MTV Europe Music Awards) was held at the Bizkaia Arena (Bilbao Exhibition Centre) in Barakaldo, part of Greater Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain, on 4 November 2018. The ceremony's host was Hailee Steinfeld. This was the third time that Spain hosted the ceremony. Camila Cabello was nominated for 6 awards, followed by Ariana Grande and Post Malone, who were each nominated for five. Cabello won four awards, becoming the most awarded artist of the night. Sebastián Yatra
Sebastián Obando Giraldo (born 15 October 1994), known professionally as Sebastián Yatra, is a Colombian singer, songwriter and actor. He began as a Latin pop artist and has recorded many ballads, but has released several successful reggaeton singles. Yatra is noted for his romantic lyrics, melding traditional lyricism with modern reggaeton influences. He rose to prominence in Latin America in 2016 when he released the hit "Traicionera". He has released three studio albums and recorded with artists from a diverse range of musical genres throughout his career. The 2017 MTV EMAs (also known as the MTV Europe Music Awards) were held at The SSE Arena in Wembley, London, United Kingdom, on 12 November 2017. The ceremony's host was Rita Ora, with voiceovers provided by Capital FM DJ Roman Kemp. This was the sixth time that the UK hosted the ceremony, and the second time London was the host city. London first hosted the ceremony in 1996 at Alexandra Palace. The ceremony was directed for television by British award-winning multi camera director Hamish Hamilton. Manuel Alejandro Medrano López (October 29, 1987, Cartagena, Colombia), known as Manuel Medrano, is a Colombian pop singer and a winner of two Latin Grammy Awards. MTV is a Latin American pay television network that was launched on 1 October 1993 as the Hispanic American version of MTV. It is owned by Paramount Networks Americas, a subsidiary of Paramount Global. The channel broadcasts music videos as well as reality shows, TV series and movies, which may be directly or indirectly related to music, aimed at the youth. Piso 21
Piso 21 is a Colombian Latin pop group. Their singles "Me Llamas", " Besándote" and " Déjala Que Vuelva" were hits in their home country, Latin America and Spain. Career Piso 21 is a Colombian group composed of Pablo Mejía (Pablito), Juan David Huertas (El Profe), David Escobar (Dim) and David Lorduy Hernández (Lorduy), with Colombian artist Juan David Castaño (El Llane) being one of its founding members. ChocQuibTown
ChocQuibTown (sometimes written as Choc Quib Town) is a Colombian hip-hop group that fuses various musical genres. Although the band formed in Cali, the members are originally from the Colombian department of Chocó. The group consists of Carlos "Tostao" Valencia (rapping), Gloria "Goyo" Martínez (singing and rapping), and Miguel "Slow" Martínez (production and rapping). The band's music draws influence from a wide variety of modern genres including hip-hop and more recently electronica, combined with traditional Colombian genres including salsa, Latin jazz, and Afro-Latin rhythms.
