Hip-hop or hip hop (originally disco rap) is a popular music Music genre, genre that emerged in the early 1970s from the African Americans, African-American community of New York City. The style is characterized by its synthesis of a wide range of musical techniques. Hip-hop includes rapping often enough that the terms can be used synonymously. However, "hip-hop" more properly denotes an entire hip-hop culture, subculture. Russell Elevado (born 1966 in the Philippines) is a recording engineer and record producer based in New York City. Description Russell Elevado is a multi-Grammy award-winning record producer and recording engineer, born in the Philippines in 1966. His family immigrated to the United States in 1972 and grew up in New York City. Elevado's career started in 1986 when he started an internship at producer Arthur Baker (producer), Arthur Baker's studio called Shakedown Studios in New York City. Elevado worked at various studios as assistant engineer eventually ending up at Quad Studios where he made his engineering start and was a staff engineer there from 1989 to 1991. Refugee Camp All-Stars was a loosely defined American musical collective and production alias associated with the Fugees and their extended creative circle. Active primarily in the late 1990s, the name was used for various collaborations involving Wyclef Jean, John Forté, Canibus, and other affiliated artists. In some instances, the name functioned more as a production imprint than a performing group. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is a trade organization that represents the music recording industry in the United States. Its members consist of record labels and distributors that the RIAA says "create, manufacture, and/or distribute approximately 85% of all legally sold recorded music in the United States". Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is a music chart published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine that ranks R&B and hip-hop albums based on sales in the United States and is compiled by Luminate. The chart debuted as Hot R&B LPs in the issue dated January 30, 1965, in an effort by the magazine to further expand into the field of rhythm and blues music. It then went through several name changes, being known as Soul LPs in the 1970s and Top Black Albums in the 1980s, before returning to the R&B identification in 1990 and affixing a hip hop designation in 1999 to reflect the latter's growing sales and relationship to R&B during the decade. "Electric Avenue" is a song by Guyanese-British musician Eddy Grant. Written and produced by Grant, it was released on his 1982 studio album '' Killer on the Rampage.'' In the United States, with the help of the MTV music video he made, it was one of the biggest hits of 1983. The song refers to Electric Avenue in London during the 1981 Brixton riot. Composition The title of the song refers to Electric Avenue in the south London district of Brixton, the first market street to be lit by electricity. According to Grant, he first became aware of the existence of the street during a stint acting at the Black Theatre of Brixton. The area is now known for its high population of Caribbean immigrants. "Feel So Good" is a song by American rapper Mase, released by Arista and Bad Boy Records on October 14, 1997 as both his debut single and the lead single for his debut album, ''Harlem World'' (1997).
