Michael Herbert Watt (16 March 1887 – 7 April 1967) was a New Zealand medical doctor and public health administrator. Early life and education Watt was born in Green Island, Otago, the 11th child of Michael Watt, a Presbyterian minister who taught at Presbyterian Theological College in Dunedin, and his wife, Isabella Shand, both of whom were from Scotland. He was educated at Otago Boys' High School and earned MB and ChB degrees from the University of Otago in 1910. After a year of clinical experience in London, Wolverhampton and Dublin, he received his MD in 1912. In the mid-1910s he earned a Diploma in Public Health from the same university, the second person to do so. Career Watt was in private practice in Ngāruawāhia from 1911. In 1914 he became a demonstrator in physiology at the University of Otago, and in 1915 an instructor in anatomy. Michael George Watt (born 27 November 1970 in Aberdeen) is a former professional footballer. He was a goalkeeper who played for Aberdeen, Norwich City and Kilmarnock. Michael Watt (born 13 April 1987) is a former Ireland men's field hockey international. Between 2006 and 2016 Watt made 201 appearances and scored 54 goals for Ireland. He was a member of the Ireland team that won the bronze medal at the 2015 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship. He also represented Ireland at the 2016 Summer Olympics. At club level, Watt has won the Irish Senior Cup with Instonians, the Scottish Hockey Cup with Grange and the Men's Irish Hockey League with Lisnagarvey. Michael Heseltine Watt (born 16 December 1940) is a New Zealand entrepreneur, philanthropist, and investor. He is one of five New Zealanders who were featured in the ''Sunday Times'' Rich List 2009. Michael David Watt (born December 20, 1957) is an American bassist, vocalist and songwriter. Watt co-founded and played bass guitar for the rock bands Minutemen (1980–1985), Dos (1985–present), and Firehose (1986–1994). He began a solo career with the 1994 album ''Ball-Hog or Tugboat?'', he has since released three additional solo albums, most recently in 2010 with ''Hyphenated-man''. He is also the frontman for the supergroup Big Walnuts Yonder (2008–present), a member of the art rock group Banyan (1997–present) and is involved with several other musical projects. Michael Watt (born March 31, 1976) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played for four different National Hockey League teams. Playing career Mike Watt was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft in the second round, 34th overall. He spent the next three seasons playing in the NCAA for Michigan State University. He joined the Oilers for the 1997–98 season. Watt appeared in 14 games for the Oilers in 1997-98, recording 3 points. On June 18, 1998, he was traded to the New York Islanders in exchange for Eric Fichaud. Watt would play 120 games for Isles. He was placed on waivers and claimed by the Nashville Predators on May 23, 2000. After only 18 games with the Preds, he was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers for Mikhail Chernov on May 24, 2001.
