Michael Manning (priest)
Michael John Manning (December 30, 1940 – December 14, 2016) was a Roman Catholic priest whose ministry was television. His program, '' The Word in the World'', is seen weekly on The Church Channel. His programs also broadcast on Catholic television stations in Rockville Centre, Yonkers, Youngstown and Fresno. Manning is also aired on the worldwide Military Network. In 1972 Manning began his ministry by hosting and producing the program "Run for Daylight" on a cable system in San Bernardino, California. In 1978 he started a nationally syndicated weekly program. Born in Muncie, Indiana in 1940, Manning died on December 14, 2016, from brain cancer. Manning's goal was to present Catholic perspectives on life's issues. He had a driving desire to build bridges among people of different Christian denominations and religions. He championed the causes of the poor and disenfranchised. Michael Manning (murderer)
Michael Manning (1 September 1928 – 20 April 1954) was an Irish man who was convicted for rape and murder and executed in 1954. He was the 29th and last person to be executed in the Republic of Ireland, as capital punishment was gradually abolished in the decades following Manning's execution. Murder and trial Manning, a 25-year-old carter from Johnsgate in Limerick, was found guilty in February 1954 of the rape and murder of Catherine Cooper, a 65-year-old nurse who worked at Barringtons' Hospital in the city. Nurse Cooper's body was discovered on 18 November 1953 in the quarry under the New Castle, Dublin Road, Castletroy, where she was found to have choked on grass stuffed into her mouth to keep her from screaming during the commission of the crime. Mick Manning (born 1959) is a British artist and creator of children's books. Biography Manning was raised in Haworth, near Keighley, Yorkshire, England. He first attended Bradford College, then studied graphic design at the University of Northumbria and later Natural History Illustration at the Royal College of Art, where his tutors included John Norris Wood, Quentin Blake, and Sheila Robinson. In 1990 he devised and ran the BA honours Illustration option at the Glasgow School of Art as Course Leader. As an artist Manning is represented by Godfrey & Watt, and St Judes.
