Michael Levitt (biophysicist)
Michael Levitt, (; born 9 May 1947) is a South African-born biophysicist and a professor of structural biology at Stanford University, a position he has held since 1987. Levitt received the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, together with Martin Karplus and Arieh Warshel, for "the development of multiscale models for complex chemical systems". In 2018, Levitt was a founding co-editor of the '' Annual Review of Biomedical Data Science''. Early life and education Michael Levitt was born in Pretoria, South Africa, to a Jewish family from Plungė, Lithuania; his father was from Lithuania and his mother from the Czech Republic. He attended Sunnyside Primary School and then Pretoria Boys High School between 1960 and 1962. The family moved to England when he was 15. Michael Levitt (born March 13, 1968) is an American television producer of award shows, reality shows, game shows and specials. He has produced programs such as '' Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List'', '' The TV Land Awards'', '' The Scream Awards'', '' Live From the Red Carpet'', '' The Billboard Music Awards'', ''Hollywood Squares'', '' The Teen Choice Awards'' and '' Celebrity Duets''. Michael Levitt is a former Canadian politician who represented the riding of York Centre in the House of Commons of Canada from 2015 to 2020 as a member of the Liberal Party. Background Born and raised in Scotland, Levitt came with his family to Canada when he was 14. Levitt is Jewish. Levitt served as Chair of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee and Chair of the Canada-Israel Interparliamentary Group. Before running for office, Levitt was a founding member of the Canadian Jewish Political Affairs Committee, co-chaired Liberal Friends of Israel, and served as a Partner and Vice-President of Business Development for the Benjamin Group in Toronto, a company providing lifecycle services to Toronto's Jewish community. In February 2024, he was named in Dutch's squad for their One Day International (ODI) series 2024 Nepal Tri-Nation Series (round 1), against the host Nepal and Namibia for the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2, League 2 matches, and in T20I squad for the 2024 Nepal Tri-Nation Series (round 1)#T20I series, 2024 Nepal Tri-Nation Series. He made his ODI debut on 17 February 2024, for Netherlands national cricket team, Netherlands against the Nepal national cricket team, Nepal in Kirtipur.
