Mezzegra
Mezzegra is a former ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Como in the Italian region Lombardy. Since 21 January 2014 it is part of the comune of Tremezzina. Geography It lies on the northwestern shore of Lake Como between Tremezzo and Lenno at the foot of Monte Tremezzo, elevation above sea level. It is about north of Milan and about northeast of Como. Giulino
Giulino (also known as Giulino di Mezzegra) is an Italian ''frazione'' of the ''Comune'' of Mezzegra, in the province of Como. Since 21 January 2014, both Giulino and Mezzegra are included in the comune of Tremezzina. History Early history The village was an autonomous municipality until 1928, when it merged into Mezzegra becoming its ''frazione'' (civil parish). Death of Mussolini The village is the place where Benito Mussolini and his lover Claretta Petacci were executed on 28 April 1945, in front of a manor house named ''Villa Belmonte''. The execution was carried out on the orders of the National Liberation Committee by Walter Audisio, a Communist partisan, after Mussolini was captured in Dongo (often erroneously considered to be the place where the execution took place). Tremezzina (Comasco: ) is a ''comune'' in the province of Como, in Lombardy, that formed on 25 May 2014 from a merger of the comunes of Lenno, Mezzegra, Ossuccio and Tremezzo. A referendum to create this comune was held on 1 December 2013. The referendum was passed with 63% yes and 37% no votes. Tremezzo
Tremezzo is a ''comune'' (or municipality) of some 1,300 people in the Province of Como, in the Italy, Italian region Lombardy. It is one of I Borghi più belli d'Italia ("The most beautiful villages of Italy"). It is located on the western shore of Lake Como between Mezzegra to the southwest and Griante to the northeast, and about from Como. Tremezzo, which has an area of , also borders the territory of the following communes: Lenno (south and west of Mezzegra), Menaggio (north of Griante), Grandola ed Uniti (inland from Menaggio) and, on the facing shore of the lake, Bellagio (Italian region), Bellagio and Lezzeno. Claretta Petacci
Clara "Claretta" Petacci (; 28 February 1912 – 28 April 1945) was a mistress of the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini. She was killed by Italian partisans during Mussolini's summary execution. Early life Daughter of Giuseppina Persichetti (1888–1962) and the physician Francesco Saverio Petacci (1883–1970), Clara Petacci was born into a privileged and religious family in Rome in 1912. Her father, a physician of the Holy Apostolic Palaces, became a supporter of fascism. A child when Mussolini rose to power in the 1920s, Clara Petacci idolised him from an early age.
