Merz Cabinet
The Merz cabinet (, ) is the 25th and current Federal Government of Germany, Government of the Germany, Federal Republic of Germany during the 21st Bundestag, 21st legislative session of the Bundestag. It succeeded the Scholz cabinet, previous cabinet led by Olaf Scholz. The cabinet is led by Friedrich Merz. The cabinet is composed of Merz's Christian Democratic Union of Germany, Christian Democratic Union (CDU), its Bavarian sister-party Christian Social Union in Bavaria, Christian Social Union (CSU) (which form the CDU/CSU alliance; the so called ''Union'') and the Social Democratic Party of Germany, Social Democratic Party (SPD). The chancellor of Germany, officially the federal chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, is the head of the federal Cabinet of Germany, government of Germany. The chancellor is the chief executive of the Federal Government of Germany, Federal Cabinet and heads the executive branch. The 21st Bundestag, the federal parliament of Germany, was elected in the 2025 German federal election, 23 February 2025 federal election, and was constituted on 25 March 2025. Thorsten Frei (born 8 August 1973) is a German lawyer and politician of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany, Christian Democratic Union (CDU) who has been serving as Head of the Federal Chancellery of Germany, Head of the Federal Chancellery in the Merz cabinet, government of Chancellor of Germany, Chancellor Friedrich Merz since 2025. Carsten Christoffer Linnemann (born 10 August 1977) is a German economist and politician of the Christian Democratic Union (Germany), Christian Democratic Union (CDU) who has been a member of the Bundestag since the 2009 German federal election, 2009 election, representing the constituency of Paderborn (electoral district), Paderborn in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Bundestag (, "Federal Diet (assembly), Diet") is the lower house of the Germany, German Federalism in Germany, federal parliament.
