Maria Rus (born 19 January 1983) is a Romanian sprint (running), sprinter who specialized in the 400 metres and later 400 metres hurdles. Her most significant achievements was a bronze medal in the 4 × 400 metres relay at the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships – Women's 4 × 400 metres relay, 2004 World Indoor Championships. Individual achievements In age-specific competitions, Rus competed at the 1999 World Youth Championships in Athletics, 1999 World Youth Championships without reaching the final before finishing fourth at the 2000 World Junior Championships in Athletics – Women's 400 metres, 2000 World Junior Championships and sixth at the 2001 European Athletics Junior Championships, 2001 European Junior Championships. Sângeorz-Băi
Sângeorz-Băi (also spelled ''Sîngeorz-Băi'', ; Hungarian: ''Oláhszentgyörgy''; ) is a spa resort and town in the mountain region of Bistrița-Năsăud County in Transylvania, Romania. The town administers two villages, Cormaia (''Kormája'') and Valea Borcutului (''Borpatak''). Geography The town is situated on the northeastern edge of the Transylvanian Plateau, at the foot of the Rodna Mountains, partly within the Rodna Mountains National Park. It lies on the banks of the river Someșul Mare; the river Cormaia discharges into the Someșul Mare a short distance upstream. The sixteen teams competed in a two-heat qualifying round in which the first three teams from each heat, together with the next two fastest teams, were given a place in the final race. Russian Olesya Krasnomovets was out hard down the backstretch, passing Britain's Donna Fraser on her outside and opening up a lead over American DeeDee Trotter chasing to the inside. But Trotter did not let Krasnomovets go, gaining steadily through the second turn and speeding down the final straightaway to draw even by the handoff to Monique Henderson, giving the U.S. the lead.
