Maria Petre
Maria Petre (born August 15, 1951) is a Romanian politician and economist, member of the Democratic Party (Romania), Democratic Party (PD), part of the European People's Party–European Democrats. A representative to the Senate of Romania, Senate for Ialomița County, she became a Member of the European Parliament on January 1, 2007 with the Accession of Romania to the European Union, Romania's accession to the European Union. Born in Grindu, Ialomița, Grindu, Petre is a graduate of the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies, Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest. She later specialized in public administration and commerce, and took additional training courses in the United Kingdom, United States and Denmark. Petre Roman (; born 22 July 1946) is a Romanian engineer and politician who was Prime Minister of Romania from 1989 to 1991, when his Third Roman cabinet, government was overthrown by the Mineriad, intervention of the miners led by Miron Cozma in the September 1991 Mineriad.
