Syed Manzoorul Islam
Syed Manzoorul Islam (born 18 January 1951) is a Bangladeshi critic, writer and a former professor of Dhaka University. As a literary critic, he has written criticism on writers including Michael Madhusudan Dutt, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Sudhindranath Dutta, Samar Sen, and Shamsur Rahman. He received a Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1996, and his 2005 short stories collection ''Prem o Prarthanar Galpo'' was Prothom Alo's book of the year. He became the president of PEN Bangladesh in January 2018. Life and career Manzoor was born in the city of Sylhet to Syed Amirul Islam and Rabeya Khatun. He passed the entrance examination from Sylhet Government Pilot High School in 1966 and Intermediate examination from Sylhet MC College in 1968. Manjurul Islam Liton
Manjurul Islam Liton (c. 1968 – 31 December 2016) was a Bangladesh Awami League politician and a member of parliament from the Gaibandha-1 constituency. Early life and career Liton was a marine engineer by training. He was a director of Ashraf Ali Cold Storage Limited and proprietor of Islam Ship Builders & Heavy Engineering. Arrest On 15 October 2015, Liton was arrested from Dhaka's Uttara area, after the Supreme Court cleared the way for his arrest in two cases filed for shooting a 10-year-old boy and vandalizing a house in Gaibandha. Witnesses allege that on 2 October, Liton shot 10 year old shot Sourav Mia in both legs when he was taking a morning walk with his uncle at Gopalcharan village in Gaibandha. Manjural Islam (cricketer)
Manjural Islam (sometimes spelled Monjural Islam, born 7 November 1979) is a Bangladeshi former cricketer who played in 17 Test matches and 34 One Day Internationals from 1999 to 2004. He is a left-arm seam bowler. Manjural Islam made his Test debut in April 2001, against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo where he took his best innings figures of 6 for 81. He represented Bangladesh in both the 1999 and the 2003 World Cups. In 2009 he was one of a number of players who decided to leave Bangladeshi domestic cricket in order to participate in the unsanctioned Indian Cricket League as part of the squad for the new Dhaka Warriors side, for which he was banned from playing in official cricket matches in Bangladesh for 10 years by the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
