Magic (Ben Rector Album)
''Magic'' is the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Ben Rector, released on June 22, 2018 through OK Kid Recordings. Rector co-produced the album alongside Tony Hoffer, John Fields, Chad Copelin, Jeff Pardo, and Konrad Snyder. It was the longest gap between one of Rector's releases due to the success of the previous album, '' Brand New''. After completing tours for ''Brand New'' Rector found time to reminisce on the progress of his music career, being overwhelmed by feelings of nostalgia. Themes of nostalgia and reminiscing would, as a result, be the theme of ''Magic''. Influences on the album include memories of old friends and the birth of his first child Jane. Rector also collaborated on individual songs with David Hodges, Gabe Dixon, Steve Stevens, Dan Wilson, and Cody Fry. Benjamin Aaron Shive (born September 26, 1979) is an American Christian musician, keyboardist, arranger, and music producer, who mainly plays acoustic Christian pop and folk rock music. He has released two studio albums, ''The Ill-Tempered Klavier'' in 2008 and ''The Cymbal Crashing Clouds'' in 2011. He is a GMA Dove Award-winning music producer, for his production on ''Christmas Is Here'' from Brandon Heath. Early and personal life Shive was born on September 26, 1979, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of a scientist. He has a brother, Joshua. He eventually relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, where he attended Belmont University to study music, while he was there he produced his first album. Quonset Hut Studio is the nickname given to Bradley Studios, an independent recording studio complex established in 1954 in Nashville, Tennessee by brothers Harold and Owen Bradley. The first commercial recording studio facility in what would later become known as Music Row, the studio produced hundreds of hits by artists including Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty, Patsy Cline, Red Foley, Brenda Lee, Marty Robbins, Sonny James, and others. Chad Copelin is an American producer, audio engineer, musician, and songwriter from Norman, Oklahoma. Copelin got his start playing in local bands and majoring in music composition and after three years of school, left to collaborate with various musicians, tour nationally, and engineer and produce local bands.
