Luke O'Dwyer
Luke O'Dwyer (born 30 January 1983) is a former professional rugby league footballer who played for the Gold Coast Titans and Parramatta Eels in the National Rugby League competition. A utility player, O'Dwyer played at centre, five-eighth, second row and lock at different times during his career. Playing career Raised in the southern Gold Coast town of Tweed Heads, O'Dwyer played his junior football for the Tweed Heads Seagulls. While playing for Seagulls, he caught the eye of the Parramatta coach, Brian Smith. O'Dwyer made his first grade debut for the Eels in 2004, coming off the bench in their round 1, 26–18, victory over the Brisbane Broncos. He played three seasons at Parramatta including the 2005 NRL season where the club won the Minor Premiership, before getting the chance to move back home to play for the newly formed Gold Coast Titans. Griffith is a major regional city in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area that is located in the north-western part of the Riverina region of New South Wales, known commonly as the food bowl of Australia. Parramatta Eels
The Parramatta Eels are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta that competes in the National Rugby League. The Parramatta District Rugby League Football Club was formed in 1947, and their home ground was Parramatta Stadium (formerly Cumberland Oval). As of 2019, Parramatta's home ground stadium has been rebuilt and they now play as the co-tenants at Western Sydney Stadium, which sits on the same site that was once Parramatta Stadium. It took thirty years for the club to make the grand final, which they did in 1976 and 1977, losing on both occasions. However, this period foreshadowed their most successful period in the early 1980s, when they won four premierships and qualified for five grand finals in six seasons.
