Elkan Allan
Elkan Allan (born Elkan Philip Cohen, 8 December 1922 – 25 June 2006) was a British television producer and print journalist. Allan is best remembered for his creation of the pioneering 1960s TV rock/pop music show ''Ready Steady Go!''. After 1968, he was for many years the television editor of ''The Sunday Times''. Early life Allan was born Elkan Philip Cohen in Cricklewood, London, in December 1922, the son of Rose (née Prager) and Allan Cohen. His father was a furrier, who later became involved in the printing industry. Allan was educated at Quinton School in St John's Wood. At some point during his childhood, his parents changed their surname from Cohen to Allan. Elkan changed his name by deed poll the day before his eighteenth birthday. Ann Michelle (born 11 August 1952) is a British actress. Biography Michelle's father Joseph was a fish trader at Billingsgate Fish Market and her mother Shirley an actress. Tigon British Film Productions or Tigon was a film production and distribution company, founded by Tony Tenser in 1966. It is best remembered for its horror films, particularly ''Witchfinder General'' (directed by Michael Reeves, 1968) and ''The Blood on Satan's Claw'' (directed by Piers Haggard, 1971). Other Tigon films include ''The Creeping Flesh'', ''The Sorcerers'' and ''Doomwatch'' (1972), based on the TV series of the same name. A 1990s book by Andy Boot (''Fragments of Fear'') highlighted the importance of Tigon and Tony Tenser to the British horror genre but contained a number of factual errors, including the misidentification of a number of films as Tigon productions.
