Lokomotiv (russian: Локомотив; English: Locomotive) or Lokomotiv Voluntary Sports Society (VSS) is the Russian sports club and a member of the International Railway Sports Association. FC Locomotive Tbilisi
FC Locomotive Tbilisi is a Georgian football club from the capital, Tbilisi. During the existence of the USSR the club was a part of the Lokomotiv Voluntary Sports Society. The club has strong connections with the Georgian Railways. History Locomotive was founded on 14 August 1936 as a part of Lokomotiv sports society. The club won Georgian championship in 1937, which gave them the permission to participate in USSR Top League. Their debut season in the highest level of the Soviet football championship came in 1938, where the club took 24th place out of 26 and got relegated. However, the Tbilisi-based club managed to get another promotion during the following season and participated in 1940 Soviet Top League. But they were eventually disqualified from the tournament. Rukometni Klub Lokomotiva Zagreb ( en, Lokomotiva Zagreb Handball Club) is a Croatian professional women's handball club from Zagreb. They are currently competing in the 2022–23 Women's EHF Champions League. Lokomotiva was the most successful team in the Yugoslav Championship's early stages, winning eight championships between 1956 and 1970. In 1975, the team reached the final of the European Cup after winning its ninth championship. However, the following fifteen years were unsuccessful, with Radnički Belgrade dominating the championship. The team resurfaced in 1991, winning both the final edition of the Yugoslav Championship and the EHF Cup, its first international trophy, beating Bayer Leverkusen in the final. RC Lokomotiv Moscow is a professional Russian rugby football club based in Moscow, which from 2010 will field teams in both rugby league and rugby union. The club is one of the oldest in Russia. Originally a club for those who worked on the railways, they participated in the first USSR rugby union championship in 1937. Lokomotiv were Soviet Championship winners in 1983. During the existence of the USSR, RC Lokomotiv Moscow club was a part of the Lokomotiv Voluntary Sports Society. Hockey Club Lokomotiv (russian: ХК Локомотив, en, Locomotive HC), also known as Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, is a Russian professional ice hockey team, based in the city of Yaroslavl, playing in the top level Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). The name of the team is derived from its owner, Russian Railways, the national railroad operator. On 7 September 2011, nearly the entire team perished in a plane crash. The team's flight to a game in Minsk crashed during takeoff, killing all of the team's roster (except forward Maxim Zyuzyakin, who was not on the flight), all coaching staff (except goaltending coach Jorma Valtonen, not on the flight) and four players from the Loko 9 juniors squad of the Minor Hockey League (MHL). FK Lokomotiva Skopje ( mk, ФК Локомотива Скопје) is a football club based in the Karpoš neighborhood of Skopje, North Macedonia. They are currently competing in the Macedonian Second League. History The club was founded in 1954, as the railway club, therefore it was sometimes called ŽFK Lokomotiva. In the past they played their matches on the home ground of FK Rabotnički, and so often youth players from Rabotnički came to the club for development. FC Lokomotiv Kyiv is a football club from Kyiv, owned by the South Western Railway. It currently participates in various Kyiv city football competitions. It also fields several of its junior teams in the Ukrainian youth league. History Founded in 1919, as ZhelDor (''abbr. -Rail road''), soon after joining the Soviet Lokomotiv sports society it changed its name twice to Lokomotiv in 1936 and Lokomotiv Yuga in 1940. The team played its home games at its own stadium. The best record of competition was the 17th place in the 1938 Soviet Top League. Also, the club was multiple winner of the Kyiv championships. In 1947, soon after the World War II the senior team was disbanded, it later appeared only on the amateur level (regional).
