Live In The X Lounge
Live in the X Lounge is a series of albums released by Birmingham, Alabama's former alternative rock radio station, WRAX. Though the station can no longer be found on the air, this series of live performances was produced while the station was known as ''107.7 The X''. The station was later renamed and moved to ''The X @ 100.5'', a change prompted by its acquisition by Citadel Broadcasting. Seven albums were produced in all, the last one released in 2004, just a few months before the station was acquired. All discs in the series were sold to benefit United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Birmingham, a group of associations raising money to create awareness and research for cerebral palsy. Brother Cane is an American rock band that released three albums in the 1990s. Formed in Alabama in 1990 by singer and guitarist Damon Johnson and bassist Glenn Maxey, the line-up was completed by guitarist Roman Glick and drummer Scott Collier. Fastball is an American rock band that formed in Austin, Texas in 1995. The band originally called themselves Magneto U.S.A. but changed their name after signing with Hollywood Records. Guster
Guster is an American alternative rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Founding members Adam Gardner, Ryan Miller, and Brian Rosenworcel began practice sessions while attending Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, and formed the band in 1991. The members met during the freshman Wilderness Orientation program in August of that year, playing publicly together as a trio two months later at the Midnight Cafe coffee house set in the common area of the Lewis Hall dormitory. My Own Prison (song)
"My Own Prison" is a song by Creed and the titular lead single from their 1997 debut album of the same name. It first appeared on the WXSR-FM compilation album ''Locals Only'' and would prove to be the band's breakout hit. The single peaked at number two on the ''Billboard'' Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and number seven on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. Writing and recording "My Own Prison" is one of Creed's earliest written songs. Prior to writing the song, the band had written about half a dozen other songs as they were in the process of trying to find their identity. The band wrote a song called "Grip My Soul", which was never recorded or released, but after a rehearsal vocalist Scott Stapp recalls that he and the band felt that they had finally found their musical style. It was sooner after this that "My Own Prison" was written. Stapp wrote in his memoir, ''Sinner's Creed'', that in a way, "Grip My Soul" was a prelude to what would become "My Own Prison".
