Karditsa (regional Unit)
Karditsa ( el, Περιφερειακή ενότητα Καρδίτσας, ) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the modern regions of Greece, region of Thessaly. Its name is derived from its capital Karditsa, a small city of approximately 40,000 people. Geography Karditsa borders the regional units of Trikala (regional unit), Trikala to the north, Larissa (regional unit), Larissa to the east, Phthiotis to the southeast, Evrytania to the south, Aetolia-Acarnania to the southwest and Arta (regional unit), Arta to the west. The main rivers are Megdovas in the south, the Pineios (Thessaly), Pineios in the north, and the Enipeas (Thessaly), Enipeas in the east. The Plastiras Dam and Lake Plastiras, located to the west of the city of Karditsa, supply water to the plains and the central part of Greece. Belokomiti
Belokomiti ( el, Μπελοκομίτη) is a mountain village and community in the municipal unit of Nevropoli Agrafon, Karditsa regional unit, Greece. In 2011 Belokomiti had a population of 146 for the village and 178 for the community, which includes the village Kedros. Belokomiti is situated in the Agrafa mountains, west of the artificial Lake Plastiras. It is located 9 km southeast of Kryoneri and 21 km southwest of Karditsa. The village is a tourist destination during the summer months. Among its attractions are the Gaki cave (σπηλιά του Γάκη) and its forests. Argithea ( el, Αργιθέα) is a village and a historic municipality in the Karditsa regional unit of Greece. The seat of the municipality is in Anthiro. The name derives from ἀργός + θέα (argós + théa, “white view”).
