Semi-automatic Pistol
A semi-automatic pistol is a type of repeating single-chamber handgun ( pistol) that automatically cycles its action to insert the subsequent cartridge into the chamber (self-loading), but requires manual actuation of the trigger to actually discharge the following shot. As a result, only one round of ammunition is fired each time the trigger is pulled, as the pistol's fire control group disconnects the trigger mechanism from the firing pin/ striker until the trigger has been released and reset. AMT Backup
The AMT Backup is a small semi-automatic pistol. It was first manufactured by the Ordnance Manufacturing Corporation (OMC) of El Monte, CA. The first guns made in .380 ACP by OMC are known as the OMC Backup. OMC produced a short run of these pistols before the tooling was purchased by Arcadia Machine & Tool, who took over production. AMT .380 ACP Backup pistols were made by AMT in El Monte, Covina California, and Irwindale, CA. The original AMT Backup was produced with a single-action only (SAO) trigger mechanism, while the later "Small Frame" and "Large Frame" Backup used a double-action-only (DAO) mechanism. These pistols were manufactured by AMT and later Galena Industries (until November 2001). The .50 Action Express (AE, 12.7×33mmRB) is a large-caliber handgun cartridge, best known for its usage in the Desert Eagle. Developed in 1988 by American Evan Whildin of Action Arms, the .50 AE is one of the most powerful pistol cartridges in production. The AMT Automag V is a large single action semi-automatic pistol made by Arcadia Machine and Tool (AMT). The weapon was created by Harry Sanford, inventor of the original .44 AutoMag pistol. Production quantity was to be 3000 units, numbered 0001-3000 to 3000-3000. This goal was never reached. The MK V used the same frame as the MK IV, and pistols have been discovered with MK V frames with MK IV slides and vice versa. Design AMT Automag V was designed to fire a .50 caliber cartridge, notably .50 Action Express. It had built-in compensator ports in the barrel assist in keeping muzzle rise to tolerable levels. The 9mm Winchester Magnum, which is also known as the 9×29mm, is a centerfire handgun cartridge developed by Winchester in the late 1970s. The cartridge was developed to duplicate the performance of the .357 S&W Magnum in an auto-pistol cartridge. The first handgun which chambered the cartridge was the Wildey pistol.
