List Of Programs Broadcast By The DuMont Television Network
This is a list of programs broadcast by the DuMont Television Network, which operated in the United States from 1942 to 1956. All regularly scheduled programs which were aired on the DuMont network are listed below, regardless of whether they originated at DuMont. Some DuMont network series were actually broadcast from Baltimore's WAAM-TV, Chicago's WGN-TV, Cincinnati's WCPO-TV, or Philadelphia's WFIL. These stations were not DuMont-owned stations but were affiliated with the network. Programs which aired on the DuMont network but originated from affiliate stations are noted in this list. Some DuMont programs were produced by other networks but aired on DuMont. For example, '' Play the Game'' (1946) was produced by ABC, but aired on DuMont since ABC had no network until 1948. The DuMont Television Network (also known as the DuMont Network, DuMont Television, simply DuMont/Du Mont, or (incorrectly) Dumont ) was one of America's pioneer commercial television networks, rivaling NBC and CBS for the distinction of being first overall in the United States. A timeline is a display of a list of events in chronological order. It is typically a graphic design showing a long bar labelled with dates paralleling it, and usually contemporaneous events. ''Shadow of the Cloak'' was a spy drama live television series broadcast on the now-defunct DuMont Television Network. Helmut Dantine played secret agent Peter House. John Gay (screenwriter), John Gay wrote some of the 36 episodes. The first episode aired June 6, 1951, and the last episode March 20, 1952. The 30-minute show aired Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET through November 1951 and then Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET from December until March 20, 1952. From January 1952 until the end of the run, ''Shadow of the Cloak'' alternated with ''Gruen Playhouse''. ''Public Prosecutor'' was an American television series produced in 1947–1948, which first aired in 1951. Broadcast history ''Public Prosecutor'' was the first dramatic series to be shot on film (in this case, 16 mm film to save production costs), instead of being performed and broadcast live. John Howard starred in the title role of public prosecutor Stephen Allen, along with Anne Gwynne as his secretary Patricia Kelly and Walter Sande as his assistant Evans. Each story began with the cast members addressing the camera (representing the TV viewers) directly, welcoming them to the office and bringing them up to date on the current case. The supporting casts were familiar from theatrical B movies and serials of the day. The format was patterned after daytime radio dramas, which ran in 15-minute installments. ''Not for Publication'' is an American crime drama TV series which aired on the now-defunct DuMont Television Network from April 1951 to May 1952. Broadcast history The show aired for 15 minutes from April 27, 1951, to August 27, 1951, and then brought back as a 30-minute show on December 21, 1951. The final show aired on May 27, 1952. The series focuses on Collins, a reporter at the fictional ''New York Ledger''. William Adler played Collins in the 15-minute version and Jerome Cowan played Collins in the 30-minute version. Jon Silo portrayed Luchek. Cowan said that he felt "right at home" in "giving a true-to-life picture" of reporters in contrast to other depictions that had reporters solving crimes that baffled police.
