This is a list of on-air resignations. These are resignations in the public eye. On radio *October 1967 and again in 1985 – Announcer and DJ William (Rosko) Mercer, known to his fans simply as Rosko, resigned on-air twice: first from WOR-FM in New York City in October 1967 over the station's employment of radio consultants; and then again in 1985, when he left WKTU-FM in Lake Success, New York, while on the air, again over a dispute with the station management. *November, 1991 – Terry Durney became the first radio presenter in the United Kingdom to resign live on-air. Resignation
Resignation is the formal act of leaving or quitting one's office or position. A resignation can occur when a person holding a position gained by election or appointment steps down, but leaving a position upon the expiration of a term, or choosing not to seek an additional term, is not considered resignation. When an employee chooses to leave a position, it is considered a resignation, as opposed to involuntary termination. Whether an employee resigned or was terminated is sometimes a topic of dispute, because in many situations, a terminated employee is eligible for severance pay and/or unemployment benefits, whereas one who voluntarily resigns may not be eligible. Pacifica Foundation is an American non-profit organization that owns five independently operated, non-commercial, listener-supported radio stations known for their progressive/ liberal political orientation. The Who
The Who are an English rock band formed in London in 1964. Their classic lineup consisted of lead singer Roger Daltrey, guitarist and singer Pete Townshend, bass guitarist and singer John Entwistle, and drummer Keith Moon. They are considered one of the most influential rock bands of the 20th century, and have sold over 100 million records worldwide. "The Song Is Over" (or "Song Is Over") is a song by the English rock band the Who, appearing on ''Who's Next''. It was originally to be the ending song on '' Lifehouse''. It takes place after the police invade the Lifehouse Theatre and the concert goers disappear. Lyrics and music "The Song Is Over" is one of the tracks on ''Who's Next'' with lead vocals by both Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey and piano work by Nicky Hopkins. According to Pete Townshend, the song provides "a mixture of being sad and wistful but at the same time a high point." That mixture is achieved by Townshend's vocals conveying a sense of the end: "The song is over, It's all behind me", and Daltrey's conveying a sense of continuing: "I sing my songs to the wide open spaces ...." Knightdale, North Carolina
Knightdale is a town in Wake County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2020 census, Knightdale has a population of 19,435. That's up from 11, 401 in 2010 . The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the town's population to be 17,843 as of July 1, 2019. Knightdale's population grew 10.4% from 2010-2013, making it the second fastest-growing community in the Research Triangle region for that time period. Named for Henry Haywood Knight, a local Wake County landowner who donated land to found a railroad depot, the town was incorporated in 1927.
