Leisure And Cultural Services Department
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), is a department in the Government of Hong Kong. It reports to the Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau, headed by the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism. It provides leisure and cultural activities for the people of Hong Kong, which was also one of the tasks of the former Urban Council, and Regional Council and Home Affairs Bureau. It manages various public facilities around Hong Kong including public libraries, swimming pools, and sports centres. The well-known Hong Kong Cultural Centre and Hong Kong Space Museum are among several museums also managed by the department. It was established in 2000 and its headquarters is in Shatin, New Territories. The department was previously headed by the Secretary for Home Affairs before July 2022. Health Education Exhibition And Resource Centre
The Health Education Exhibition and Resources Centre opened on 17May 1997 in Kowloon Park, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. It is under the management of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department of the Government of Hong Kong. Fo Tan
Fo Tan is an area of Sha Tin District, New Territories, Hong Kong. It was developed as a light industrial area, but this activity has declined markedly in recent years. There are residential areas to the east, alongside the MTR line, and in the foothills to the west. Etymology Fo Tan is located around a river, the Fo Tan Nullah. Historically, a beach was revealed when the water receded. The area thus became known as "river beach" (). In Hakka, this was pronounced "Fo Tan". It was later mistakenly called "Fire Beach" () due to similarities in pronunciation. This has further changed into "Fire Charcoal" () which is in current use, again due to similarities in pronunciation. Tao Heung Foods Of Mankind Museum
Tao Heung Foods of Mankind Museum (), formerly Foods of Mankind Museum, is the first 'foods of mankind' museum in Hong Kong. It is one of the few museums not run and funded by the government. It was housed in a two-floored building at 1 Lok Tin Street, On Lok Tsuen, Fanling, Hong Kong but closed in 2005 due to lack of funds. The museum introduced the food cultures of different countries from the past to the present. The museum was reopened on 15 October 2005. In 2008 it moved to Fo Tan, Sha Tin District. Cotton Tree Drive () is a road running from Central to Mid-Levels, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. The road is famous for the Cotton Tree Drive Marriage Registry, a hotspot for marriage registration inside Hong Kong Park. It used to be known as Kapok Drive. The road starts from Harcourt Road and runs with flyovers over Queensway. It then drives uphill and ends in Garden Road with a branch to Kennedy Road. Hong Kong Park
The Hong Kong Park is a public park next to Cotton Tree Drive in Central, Hong Kong. Built at a cost of HK$398 million and opened on 23 May 1991, it covers an area of and is an example of modern design and facilities blending with natural landscape. History Part of the site was known as Cantonment Hill in early colonial days in 1841. At the upper part of the former location of the Victoria Barracks, built between 1867 and 1910, the barracks were handed to the government in 1979. Glenealy Junior School occupied part of this site up until 1988. After the school vacated the site, the area was turned into the present park. Hong Kong Park was officially opened on 23 May 1991 by Sir David Wilson, the Governor of Hong Kong at that time. Hong Kong Island is an island in the southern part of Hong Kong. Known colloquially and on road signs simply as Hong Kong, the island has a population of 1,289,500 and its population density is 16,390/km2, . Quarry Bay is an area beneath Mount Parker in the Eastern District of Hong Kong Island, in Hong Kong. The western portion of the area was also formerly known as Lai Chi (). Traditionally an industrial and residential area, the number of commercial buildings in this district has increased since the 1990s. Quarry Bay Park () is an urban park located in the Quarry Bay area of Hong Kong Island's Eastern District. It lies between the waterfront and the Tai Koo Shing housing estate, and covers around . The park is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Government. History Quarry Bay Park was planned by the former Urban Council in the 1980s on newly reclaimed land, in concert with major infrastructure development in the area, including the Island Eastern Corridor and the portal of the Eastern Harbour Crossing. Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery
The ''Alexander Grantham'' was a fireboat of Hong Kong's Fire Services Department. The fireboat was named after former Governor Sir Alexander Grantham. The boat has since retired from service and been replaced by other vessels. On 10 March 2006, the fireboat was successfully hoisted into its new permanent home in the Central Concourse of Quarry Bay Park, Hong Kong, where it has been converted into the Fireboat ''Alexander Grantham'' Exhibition Gallery and was opened to the public as a museum in 2007, managed by LCSD.
