Kailali is a district of Sudurpashchim Province and is located in south-western Nepal. Sudurpashchim Province ( ne, सुदूरपश्चिम प्रदेश, ''Sudurpashchim Province'') (''Far-West Province'') is one of the seven provinces established by the new constitution of Nepal which was adopted on 20 September 2015. It borders the Tibet Autonomous Region of China to the north, Karnali Province and Lumbini Province to the east, and the India's Kumaon to the west and Uttar Pradesh to the south. The province covers an area of 19,539 km2 - about 13.22% of the country's total area. Rana Dynasty
Rana dynasty ( ne, राणा वंश, IAST=Rāṇā vaṃśa , ) is a Chhetri dynasty that imposed totalitarianism in the Kingdom of Nepal from 1846 until 1951, reducing the Shah monarch to a figurehead and making Prime Minister and other government positions held by the Ranas hereditary. They claimed Kshatriya status themselves. Rana dynasty is historically known for the '' iron-fisted rule''. Garva Palace
Garva Palace (Nepali: गर्भा दरबार) is a historical site located in Chure Rural Municipality in Kailali district of western Nepal. Currently, the palace is in derelict condition due to lack of necessary conservation. The palace is spread over 10 ''Ropanis'' of land. History The palace was built by Khadga Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana between 1979 and 1984 BS. Special craftsmen were brought from India to build the palace. The palace used to serve the purpose of collecting taxes and settling cases in Kailali, Kanchanpur and Doti districts. Later, the Palace was used by Bahadur Shumsher, son of Khadak Shumsher. After the Rana reign was over, a post office and a village development committee office was set up in the palace. During the civil war, Maoist set fire in the palace. The Ancient Monument Protection Act 1956 (Prachin Smarak Samrakshan Ain 2013 BS) has defined monuments as “Any temple, monument, house, Devalaya, Shivalaya, Muth, monastery, vihar, stupa etc that is older than 100 years and has historical significance is monument.” The Ancient Monument Protection Act 1956 and Ancient Monument Protection Rules 1990 have provisioned the Department of Archaeology which is the authorized legal entity to protect such monuments.
