Swedish Language
Swedish ( ) is a North Germanic language spoken predominantly in Sweden and in parts of Finland. It has at least 10 million native speakers, the fourth most spoken Germanic language and the first among any other of its type in the Nordic countries overall. Swedish, like the other Nordic languages, is a descendant of Old Norse, the common language of the Germanic peoples living in Scandinavia during the Viking Era. It is largely mutually intelligible with Norwegian and Danish, although the degree of mutual intelligibility is largely dependent on the dialect and accent of the speaker. Written Norwegian and Danish are usually more easily understood by Swedish speakers than the spoken languages, due to the differences in tone, accent, and intonation. ''Året Runt'' ( Swedish: ''All Year Around'') is a weekly women's and family magazine published in Malmö, Sweden. Founded in 1946 it is one of the longest-running magazines in the country. History and profile ''Året Runt'' was started by Åhlén & Åkerlunds förlag (today Bonnier AB) in 1946. During the initial period the magazine targeted rural readers. Gunny Widell served as the editor-in-chief of the magazine. Another family magazine, ''Vårt Hem'', merged with ''Året Runt'' in 1951. In 1960 ''Året Runt'' began to include a TV section. Bonnier sold ''Året Runt'' to its rival company Aller Media due to poor circulation levels in the mid-1980s. The magazine is published by Allers Förlag AB on a weekly basis. ''Biotech Sweden'' was a Swedish tabloid magazine about and for the Scandinavian life science and biotech industry. History and profile ''Biotech Sweden'' was first published on 9 April 2002 by IDG Sweden, a subsidiary of IDG. It was sister publication of ''Bio-IT World''. During its existence it was the most popular magazine in its category. History and profile ''Bildjournalen'' was established in 1954. The magazine was modeled on ''17'' and ''Hit Parader'' magazines. It was part of and published by Åhlén & Åkerlund. Its headquarters was in Malmö. A movie magazine, ''Filmjournalen'', merged with it. ''Bang'' was Swedish feminist culture and society magazine, which was subtitled Feministisk Kulturtidskrift. It was started in 1991 by students at Stockholm University. Previous editors-in-chief included Sanna Samuelsson and Valerie Kyeyune Backström. The magazine is named after Barbro Alving Barbro Alving (12 January 1909 – 22 January 1987) was a Swedish journalist and writer, a pacifist and feminist, often using the pseudonym Bang.
