Live action (or live-action) is a form of cinematography or videography that uses photography instead of animation. Some works combine live-action with animation to create a live-action animated film. Live-action is used to define film, video games or similar visual media. According to the Cambridge English Dictionary, live action " nvolvesreal people or animals, not models, or images that are drawn, or produced by computer." Overview As the normal process of making visual media involves live-action, the term itself is usually superfluous. American Splendor (film)
''American Splendor'' is a 2003 American biographical comedy-drama film about Harvey Pekar, the author of the ''American Splendor'' comic book series. The film, which is a hybrid production featuring live actors, documentary, and animation, is in part an adaptation of the comics, which dramatize Pekar's life. ''American Splendor'' was written and directed by documentarians Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini. The film stars Paul Giamatti as Pekar and Hope Davis as Joyce Brabner. It also features appearances from Pekar and Brabner themselves (along with Pekar's long-time co-worker Toby Radloff), who discuss their lives, the comic books, and how it feels to be depicted onscreen by actors. ''Assassination Classroom'' is a 2015 Japanese school science-fiction action comedy film directed by Eiichirō Hasumi and based on the manga series of the same name created by Yūsei Matsui.
