This is the list of independent radio stations. Included are any non-profit terrestrial broadcast community radio stations not directly affiliated, owned, or otherwise controlled by any radio network, school, company, or government. All independent radio listed stations are independently operated (''not'' necessarily the radio format indie music), and are considered to be community radio. CJAI-FM
CJAI-FM, known on air as ''Amherst Island Radio'', is a radio station in Stella, Ontario, Canada. Broadcasting at 101.3 FM, the station airs a community radio format serving the Loyalist Township, Kingston and Greater Napanee regions. It's one of the few remaining independent radio stations in Canada. History The station launched on April 1, 2006, originally on 93.7 FM with a power of 5 watts. Previously licensed as a developmental community radio station, Amherst Island Radio changed frequency to 92.1 FM in October 2007 following the licensing of a new radio station on the adjacent 93.5 frequency in Kingston, and was granted a permanent license on December 6, 2007. It operated as a 250-watt class B community broadcast undertaking for the ensuing 14 year period. CKRL-FM is a French-language Canadian radio station located in Quebec City, Quebec. The station operates under a community radio licence and is owned by a non-profit group known as CKRL-MF 89,1 inc. CHLY-FM
CHLY 101.7 FM is a campus radio station based in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Primarily funded by students of Vancouver Island University's Nanaimo campus, the station is also supported by donations and memberships from the community, as well as sponsorship and advertising from local businesses. CHLY-FM is run by the Radio Malaspina Society, an incorporated non-profit society with a mission to broadcast an FM radio signal of 3,000 watts its broadcast community. From its broadcast site at Cottle Hill, CHLY's broadcast signal covers much of the Salish Sea, reaching as far north as Campbell River, as far south as the Cowichan Valley, Southern Gulf Islands, east to the southern Sunshine Coast, and parts of the Lower Mainland.
