This is a list of foreign players in Major League Soccer. The following players: #Have played at least one MLS regular season game. Players who were signed by MLS clubs, but only played in playoff games, U.S. Open Cup games, or did not play in any competitive games at all, are not included. #Are considered foreign, i.e., outside Canada or the United States determined by the following: ::''A player is considered foreign if he is not eligible to play for the national team of Canada or the United States. More specifically, *If a player has been capped on international level, the national team is used; if he has been capped by more than one country, the highest level (or the most recent) team is used. Major League Soccer (MLS) is a men's professional soccer league sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation, which represents the sport's highest level in the United States. The league comprises 29 teams—26 in the U.S. and 3 in Canada—since the 2023 season. The league is headquartered in Midtown Manhattan. Major League Soccer is the most recent in a series of men's premier professional national soccer leagues established in the United States and Canada. The predecessor of MLS was the North American Soccer League (NASL), which existed from 1968 until 1984. Yazid Atouba (; born 2 January 1993) is a Cameroonian footballer who plays as a midfielder, lastly for Angolan football club Primeiro de Agosto. Career Club After spending his early career in his native land of Cameroon, Atouba was drafted by the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer on 17 January 2013 as the 30th overall pick in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft. Then after impressing coaches in Chicago's pre-season camps, Atouba was officially signed by the team on 1 March 2013. Then, just two days after signing his first professional contract, Atouba made his MLS debut in the Fire's first match of the season against the defending champions Los Angeles Galaxy at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California when he came on in the 70th minute for Joel Lindpere, however the Fire came out in the end with a 4–0 loss. The team began play in the league in 2020 as a continuation of the USL club of the same name and plays its home matches at Geodis Park. Anatole Bertrand Abang (born 6 July 1996) is a Cameroonian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Al Bataeh Club. Ousseni Bouda (born 28 April 2000) is a Burkinabé professional footballer who plays for Major League Soccer club San Jose Earthquakes. Bouda was the recipient of the Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year award for the 2017–18 season. The award is a nationally recognized honor given to the best high school athlete in each sport in the United States. Diphetogo "Dipsy" Selolwane (born 27 January 1978) is a Botswana former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He has also played as a striker in Major League Soccer. Club career Selolwane first played for Gaborone United in the Botswana Premier League. After playing college soccer at Saint Louis University and being named first-team All-American in 2001, Selolwane was drafted 36th overall in the 2002 MLS Superdraft by the Chicago Fire.
