Siblyback Lake
Siblyback Lake is a reservoir on the edge of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall, England, UK. It is one of 12 areas in Cornwall designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. and is managed by the South-West Lakes Trust. The dam blocks a small tributary of the River Fowey. It was built in 1968 and at full capacity the lake holds over 3 billion litres of water. The reservoir is used to buffer the water levels in the River Fowey in the summer. The water is collected downstream for domestic drinking water at the Restormel treatment works. In addition to watersports facilities, a circular path runs adjacent to the lake. Newquay
Newquay ( ; kw, Tewynblustri) is a town on the north coast in Cornwall, in the south west of England. It is a civil parish, seaside resort, regional centre for aerospace industries, spaceport and a fishing port on the North Atlantic coast of Cornwall, approximately north of Truro and west of Bodmin. Porth Reservoir
Porth Reservoir is a reservoir in Cornwall, England, most of which is in the parish of Colan. The concrete dam was completed in 1960, and the lake has a net capacity of approximately 113,000,000 gallons (514,000,000 litres). The reservoir has an area of about 40 acres (0.16 km2), and a perimeter of approximately 3 miles (4.8 km). It now operates as a coarse fishery, with a nature reserve at one end. The reservoir is principally fed by the small river that starts near Ruthvoes, about 4 miles (6 km) to the east. From the reservoir's outlet, the river flows to St Columb Porth, where it enters the sea. Construction of the reservoir and dam was carried out by the Newquay & District Water Company. It was officially opened on 16 June 1960 by A. C. McLellan, then president of the Institution of Water Engineers. Drift Reservoir
Drift Reservoir is a reservoir in Cornwall, England, UK, just north of the village of Drift and west of Penzance. The reservoir is long and covers . The dam is at the southern end of the reservoir, and the northern end, splits into north-western and north-eastern shallow arms. It is currently managed, jointly by the South West Lakes Trust and South West Water. There is public access to the dam and parking area only. History The reservoir was first given statutory approval in 1938 (under the Penzance Corporation Act 1938) but construction was deferred until after World War II. A joint water scheme was agreed by the Penzance and St Ives Borough Councils to provide water for the Land's End peninsula in 1951 and work finally commenced on 1 March 1959 by Robert Alpine and Sons. Bodmin Moor
Bodmin Moor ( kw, Goon Brenn) is a granite moorland in north-eastern Cornwall, England. It is in size, and dates from the Carboniferous period of geological history. It includes Brown Willy, the highest point in Cornwall, and Rough Tor, a slightly lower peak. Many of Cornwall's rivers have their sources here. It has been inhabited since at least the Neolithic era, when primitive farmers started clearing trees and farming the land. They left their megalithic monuments, hut circles and cairns, and the Bronze Age culture that followed left further cairns, and more stone circles and stone rows. By medieval and modern times, nearly all the forest was gone and livestock rearing predominated. The name Bodmin Moor is relatively recent. Colliford Lake is a reservoir on Bodmin Moor, Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. Covering more than , it is the largest lake in Cornwall. It is situated south of the A30 trunk road near the village of Bolventor, the approximate centre of the lake being at . Dozmary Pool outfalls into the lake and the lake's own outfall forms one of the tributaries of the River Fowey.
