List Of Current National Pro Fastpitch Team Rosters
Below are the full rosters, including the coaching staffs, of the teams of National Pro Fastpitch, the only professional women's softball league in the United States as of 2018. , the roster maximum is 26 athletes per team. Previously, all teams were allowed a minimum of 18 and up to 23 players on their roster. Per Commissioner Cheri Kempf's tweet, NPF contracts expire in February, therefore the extension of a contract "through 2018" means the player is only contracted to play through the 2017 season, with the contract expiring the following February. The final year listed for a player on the rosters below is the final season the player is under contract, with expiration in the following year's February. Teams retain exclusive signing rights with draftees for two seasons. National Pro Fastpitch
National Pro Fastpitch (NPF), formerly the Women's Pro Softball League (WPSL), was a professional women's softball league in the United States. The teams battled for the Cowles Cup. The WPSL was founded in 1997 and folded in 2001; the NPF revived the league in 2004. A new softball league is planned for 2022, the Women's Professional Fastpitch (WPF), and the NPF will be disbanded. Beijing Eagles
The Beijing Eagles, officially the Beijing Shougang Eagles (北京首钢金鹰女垒), were a women's professional softball team. Established in May 2017, the team plays in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF). In the 2019 NPF Season the team will play all their home games at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Managed by Chinese Softball Association, the Eagles' roster is mainly populated with players from the China women's national softball team as a means to gain professional experience against the highest levels of fastpitch play, in anticipation of softball's return to the Olympics in 2020. Canadian Wild
The Canadian Wild, officially the Canadian Wild of Southern Illinois, were a professional women's softball team based in Marion, Illinois. They were founded in 2019 as part of National Pro Fastpitch and are partnered with the Canada women's national softball team. The team is composed entirely of Canadian players and is essentially the Canada women's national softball team and allows the team to play against top competition for most of the year, although there are some other players from Softball Canada on the roster. Chicago Bandits
The Chicago Bandits were a women's professional softball team based in Rosemont, Illinois. Since the 2005 season, they have played as a member of National Pro Fastpitch (NPF). The Bandits won the 2008 NPF championship, defeating the Washington Glory in the final game of the championship series. The team won their second NPF championship following the 2011 season when they won the championship series two games to none over the USSSA Pride. Following the 2015 season the team won its third NPF championship defeating the USSSA Pride two games to none. They played their home games at Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont, Illinois.
