Castro Culture
Castro culture ( gl, cultura castrexa, pt, cultura castreja, ast, cultura castriega, es, cultura castreña, meaning "culture of the hillforts") is the archaeological term for the material culture of the northwestern regions of the Iberian Peninsula (present-day northern Portugal together with the Spanish regions of Galicia, Asturias, and western León) from the end of the Bronze Age (c. 9th century BC) until it was subsumed by Roman culture (c. 1st century BC). It is the culture associated with the Gallaecians and Astures. The most notable characteristics of this culture are: its walled oppida and hillforts, known locally as ''castros'', from Latin ''castrum'' 'castle', and the scarcity of visible burial practices, in spite of the frequent depositions of prestige items and goods, swords and other metallic riches in rocky outcrops, rivers and other aquatic contexts since the Atlantic Bronze Age. Ferrol, Galicia
Ferrol () is a city in the Province of A Coruña in Galicia, on the Atlantic coast in north-western Spain, in the vicinity of Strabo's Cape Nerium (modern day Cape Prior). According to the 2021 census, the city has a population of 64,785, making it the seventh largest settlement in Galicia. With Eume to the south and Ortegal the north, Ferrol forms the Ferrolterra comarca, and together with A Coruña forms the second largest conurbation in Galicia, with a total population of 640,000 in 2016. The harbour, for depth, capacity and safety, is not equalled by many in Europe. The entrance is very narrow, commanded by forts, and may even be shut by a steccado. Narón is a municipality in northwestern Spain in the autonomous community of Galicia (Spain), Galicia. It belongs to the comarca of Ferrol (comarca), Ferrol. Geographically, the town is very close to the Atlantic Ocean. The city of Ferrol, Spain, Ferrol is 5 km away. The nearest airports are located in the cities of A Coruña and Santiago de Compostela. Narón has a train and bus connection to Ferrol as they form an urban continuum. Castro de Borneiro is an archeological site in Galicia, Spain. A castro is an iron-age walled settlement, or oppidum, and the site is an example of remnants of the Castro culture in Northern Spain which dates as far back as the 9th century BCE, though this site was inhabited from the 4th to the 1st century BCE. It is a textbook example from that period, and has been the focus of several excavations and alterations to accommodate visitors. Location Castro de Borneiro is located in Castro (A Cibdá), which belongs to the parish of Borneiro, in the municipality of Cabana de Bergantiños (La Coruña). It is 500 meters from the AC-430, the road between Ponteceso and Baio.
