The flag of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands was created in 2003 and adopted on 6 April 2004. It was designed by territory resident Mohammed Minkom, who won a design contest as a teenager. Design The flag consists of a green field, with a palm tree on a gold disc in the canton, a gold crescent moon in the centre of the flag and a gold southern cross in the fly. Raymond Leon Stone (September 2, 1923 – June 17, 2013) was an American politician, educator and jazz musician. He served as the Mayor of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, for two consecutive terms from January 1986 to January 1994. Stone was awarded the Eisenhower Liberation Medal by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 1988 for his part in the liberation of Wöbbelin concentration camp during World War II, as well as the campaign by the city of Coeur d'Alene against local Neo-Nazi groups in the northern Idaho Panhandle. Commodore William Leonard Taylor, (born 14 September 1938) is a former Australian naval officer and politician. He was a senior officer in the Royal Australian Navy, resigning to run for federal parliament. Ronald George "Ron" Harvey, (born 9 June 1934) is a former senior Australian public servant and sport administrator. He was the third director of the Australian Institute of Sport, serving in the role from 1987 until 1989. Early life Harvey was born on 9 June 1934 in the Perth suburb of Subiaco and attended Perth Boys High School. He left school at the age of fourteen. Sporting career Harvey moved to Canberra in 1960 and became involved in playing, coaching and administrative roles in basketball.
