Teletubbies
''Teletubbies'' is a British children's television series created by Anne Wood and Andrew Davenport for the BBC. The programme focuses on four differently coloured characters known as the Teletubbies, named after the television screens on their bellies. Recognised throughout popular culture for the uniquely shaped antenna protruding from the head of each character, the Teletubbies communicate through gibberish and were designed to bear resemblance to toddlers. The series rapidly became a commercial success in Britain and abroad. It won multiple BAFTA awards and was nominated for two Daytime Emmys throughout its run. A single based on the show's theme song reached number 1 in the UK Singles Chart in December 1997 and remained in the Top 75 for 32 weeks, selling over a million copies. Alex Pascall
Alex Pascall, OBE (born November 1936), is a British broadcaster, journalist, musician, composer, oral historian and educator. Based in Britain for more than 50 years, he was one of the developers of the Notting Hill Carnival, is a political campaigner and was part of the team behind the birth of Britain's first national black newspaper ''The Voice''. Credited with having "established a black presence in the British media", Yinka Sunmonu, "Pascall, Alex", in Alison Donnell (ed.), ''Companion to Contemporary Black British Culture'', Routledge, 2002, p. 323. Pascall is most notable as having been one of the first regular Black radio voices in the UK, presenting the programme ''Black Londoners'' on BBC Radio London for 14 years from 1974. Brian Cant
Brian Cant (12 July 1933 – 19 June 2017) was an English actor of stage, television and film, television presenter, voice artist and writer. He was best known for his work in BBC television programmes for children from 1964 onward, most notably '' Play School'' and in later years ''Dappledown Farm.'' Early life and education Cant was born on 12 July 1933 in Ipswich and educated at Northgate Grammar School for Boys, a state grammar school, since renamed Northgate High School. He trained with Ipswich Town F.C.'s youth team. He worked as a printer before starting to act in the late 1950s. Television and film Cant was performing in BBC Schools drama television programmes about the Romans for the corporation when he heard that auditions were being held for a new pre-school children's programme which was to be shown on the new BBC 2 channel. Jordan Mathews
Jordan Mathews (born June 22, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for Spójnia Stargard of the Polish Basketball League (PLK). He played in college for California and Gonzaga. College career Out of Santa Monica High School, Mathews was a top recruit out of high school for California. He had a solid freshman campaign under coach Mike Montgomery and had a 32-point game versus Oregon. As a sophomore, Mathews averaged 13.6 points per game. He posted 13.5 points per game as a junior and earned his degree after taking six classes in 12 weeks. He opted to transfer to Gonzaga for his final collegiate season because he did not have a great relationship with Golden Bears coach Cuonzo Martin. Mathews endured a brief shooting slump in February 2017 but rebounded to make three 3-pointers and score 15 points in a win over San Diego. Phil Mathews (basketball)
Phillip Louis Mathews (born November 27, 1950) is an American basketball coach who is currently head men's basketball coach at Riverside City College. A native of Riverside, California, Mathews played college basketball at Riverside City and UC Irvine. Since 1972, Mathews has coached at the high school, junior college, and college levels. He began his career as an assistant at UC Irvine, Santa Ana Valley High School, and Cal State Fullerton. From 1985 to 1995, Mathews was a junior college head coach at Ventura and led Ventura to ten conference titles and two state titles. Mathews then was head coach for the University of San Francisco from 1995 to 2004, before returning to the junior college ranks as San Bernardino Valley head coach from 2004 to 2006. Mathews then became an assistant coach at two NCAA programs, Nebraska from 2006 to 2010 and UCLA from 2010 to 2013. Mathews became head coach at Riverside City in 2013. BBC Store
BBC Store was a video on demand store that launched in the UK on 5 November 2015 and opened the BBC Archive to consumers, allowing them to buy episodes or series of a show and download them (using dedicated BBC Store apps). BBC Store was approved by the BBC Trust in 2014. It was initially hosted on a dedicated website, but was later integrated with BBC iPlayer. BBC Store was provided and funded through BBC Worldwide, a commercial subsidiary of the BBC. It closed on 1 November 2017. Following the launch of BBC Store, the BBC's UK physical and online shop (BBC Shop) closed on 29 March 2016. However, the online shop in the US and Canada is still fully operating. In November 2017 Tony Hall said, "We made the decision to go into download-to-own when the market looked like t would work” said Hall. “It was an experiment. We got out of it quick."
