2017 Democratic Party (Italy) Leadership Election
The 2017 Democratic Party leadership election was an open primary election held on 30 April 2017. The three candidates were Matteo Renzi, former Prime Minister and party secretary until February 2017, Michele Emiliano, President of Apulia, and Andrea Orlando, the Minister of Justice. Renzi was elected by a landslide 70%, and appointed Maurizio Martina as his deputy secretary. Electoral process Candidates were required to file their candidacies by 6 March 2017. Local and provincial conventions then take place all around the country, where party members vote on the candidates for secretary. Under party rules, the candidates who receive the support of at least the 15% of voting party members in local conventions, or the three most voted candidates above 5% of the vote, qualify for the second round of the race and have the chance to present their platform at the national convention. Debora Serracchiani (born 10 November 1970) is an Italian politician. Born in Rome, she is a member of Democratic Party, and was president of the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. In 2016, she proposed and got the approval of a regional law which officially abolished provinces of the Friuli Venezia Giulia, moving their competences to the lower and the upper administrative level, which were respectively the Italian ''comune'' and the ''region''. Friuli Venezia Giulia was the first region to implement the 2014 Delrio national law. Serracchiani served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) of the European Parliament from 2008-13 as a member of the PD. Debora Racing cars is a small French car builder, popular with private racing teams, based in Besançon, France. Teams generally use their chassis to take part in Le Mans style endurance racing such as Magny Cours, Jarama and le Mans. Drivers also tend to be French with Bruno Boccard and David Dusseau being two of the more famous. Debora use an LMP Le Mans Prototype type 1 body shell over a mid-engined chassis with open driving seat in the bodywork. Their Type 2 LMP with closed bodywork owes much to the Courage and is a truly beautiful piece of engineering. Engines have been known to come from a 3-litre BMW and a 2-litre Ford Cosworth Turbo on the Jarama racetrack 1997. Lorenzo Guerini (born 21 November 1966) is an Italian politician and member of the Democratic Party. Guerini has been serving as Minister of Defence in the cabinets of successive Prime Ministers Giuseppe Conte and Mario Draghi from 2019 to 2022. The 2019 Democratic Party leadership election was an open primary election held on 3 March 2019. The election was triggered by the resignation of Matteo Renzi on 12 March 2018, following the party's defeat at the 2018 general election. Vice Secretary Maurizio Martina was appointed Secretary in July 2018 by the National Assembly, but he resigned after few months to officially start the party's congress. Six candidates were successfully nominated to stand in the Club's Conventions, held in January: Nicola Zingaretti, Maurizio Martina, Roberto Giachetti, Francesco Boccia, Dario Corallo and Maria Saladino. Nicola Zingaretti (; born 11 October 1965) is an Italian politician who served as President of Lazio and was Secretary of the Democratic Party from March 2019 until March 2021. During the 1990s, he was a prominent European youth leader, serving as National Secretary of the Left Youth, the youth-wing of the Democratic Party of the Left and as President of the International Union of Socialist Youth.
