KBOO
KBOO is a non-profit organization, listener-funded FM Community radio station broadcasting from Portland, Oregon. The station's mission is to serve groups in its listening area who are underrepresented on other local radio stations and to provide access to the airwaves for people who have unconventional or controversial tastes and points of view. It broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and has been on the air since 1968. KBOO is supported financially by donations from members and a small endowment. As of February 2022, the station had about 9,200 members. The station runs pledge drives twice each year. The annual KBOO budget in 2022 was about $900,000. The station is run by eleven paid staff members and several hundred volunteers. Its offices and broadcast studios are in a converted warehouse in inner Southeast Portland, purchased in 1982. Bandon, Oregon
Bandon () is a city in Coos County, Oregon, United States, on the south side of the mouth of the Coquille River. It was named by George Bennet, an Irish peer, who settled nearby in 1873 and named the town after Bandon in Ireland, his hometown. The population was 3,066 at the 2010 census and by the 2020 census 3,321. History Before 1850, the Coquille Indians lived in the area. Then in 1851, gold was discovered at nearby Whiskey Run Beach by French Canadian trappers, though the gold rush did not have much of an impact on the area. In 1852, Henry Baldwin, from County Cork, Ireland, was shipwrecked on the Coos Bay bar and walked into this area. The first permanent European settlers came in 1853 and established the present town site. In 1856, the first conflicts with Indigenous Americans in the area arose and those were sent to the Siletz Reservation. KBMF-LP (102.5 FM) is a non-commercial low-power community radio station that broadcasts terrestrially from a transmitter atop the historic Carpenters' Union Hall in Uptown Butte, Montana. Broadcasting 24/7, the station showcases 60+ unique freeform music programs, two one-hour weekly news programs, and a variety of community programs. KBMF-LP's FCC licensee is Butte America Foundation (BAmF), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. The station's slogan is "America's Most Radio". History KBMF-LP 102.5 FM was established as the flagship project of the Butte America Foundation in August 2013. Filing of the initial construction permit was delayed by the 2013 United States federal government shutdown, but the permit was awarded in January 2014. North Newton is a city in Harvey County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 1,814. It is located between the north side of the city of Newton (separate entity) and the south side of Interstate I-135. North Newton is home of Bethel College. KBCU (88.1 FM) is a 24-hour non-commercial, not-for-profit radio station broadcasting a jazz and College Radio format from the campus of Bethel College (Kansas) in North Newton, Kansas, US, and serving the Newton area. The station was founded in the 1930s, and transmits a wide range of student programming, including rock, hip-hop, alternative, Latin, contemporary Christian and sports talk shows, and reaches all of Newton and much of Harvey County. The radio station is operated and staffed by more than three dozen Bethel students and a faculty advisor, and allows Bethel College students to receive academic credit for their radio participation. There are facilities for broadcast and production for students, providing them with real-world experience which was the first mass-media broadcast experience for many Bethel alumni who went on to careers in mass media and broadcasting.
