Kamāl Ud-Dīn Behzād
Kamāl ud-Dīn Behzād (c. 1455/60 – 1535), also known as Kamal al-din Bihzad or Kamaleddin Behzād ( fa, کمالالدین بهزاد), was a Persian painter and head of the royal ateliers in Herat and Tabriz during the late Timurid and early Safavid Persian periods. He is regarded as marking the highpoint of the great tradition of Islamic miniature painting. He was very prominent in his role as a director of a workshop in the Herat Academy as well as his position in the Royal Library in the city of Herat. His art is unique in that it includes the common geometric attributes of Persian painting, while also inserting his own style, such as vast empty spaces to which the subject of the painting dances around. His art includes masterful use of value and individuality of character, with one of his most famous pieces being "The Seduction of Yusuf”' from Sa'di's Bustan of 1488. Ali Divandari
Ali Divandari ( fa, علی دیواندری; also Romanized as Alī Divāndarī, ; Born 6 September 1957 in Sabzevar) is an Iranian cartoonist, painter, graphic designer, sculptor and journalist. Biography Divandari studied graphics at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Tehran University. He began his career as graphic designer and cartoonist in 1975. In 1997, he directed a new International Cartoon Festival in Iran with a main theme of "man and Nature – Only one, Share & Care". Over his career, Divandari was a jury member of several cartoon exhibitions in Iran and Turkey. Haydar Hatemi
Haydar Hatemi (born March 3, 1945 in Hadishahr) is an Iranian artist whose work is based on blends of classical oriental styles such as miniature and tazhib, with some modern elements. His early studies in art started at Tabriz's Art Academy after finishing high school in Tabriz, Iran. Hatemi is a graduate of the prestigious Fine Arts Academy of Tehran University. He moved to Turkey in 1983. He is one of the most significant artists of the Iranian diaspora. He has been working under the commission of the Qatari Royal family for the last decade. Khosrow Hassanzadeh
Khosrow Hassanzadeh (born 1963 in Tehran) is an Iranian painter. He is known for his "Terrorist" collection. Life and career Hassanzadeh was born in 1963 in Tehran, to a working class Azerbaijani family who were fruit-sellers. He was just 17 years when the Iran-Iraq war broke out, and he dropped out of school and enlisted in the Basiji militia, but was subsequently obliged to remain as a conscript. When he returned from the war, he chose to work on themes that reflected his experiences of war. Following his return to civilian life, he studied art, enrolling in the Mojtama-e-Honar University (1989–91) where he studied painting and later at the Persian Literature at Azad University (1995–99), both in Tehran. His art teachers advised him to "draw small" so that his work would be marketable, but he ignored this advice. From the outset, he was determined to paint large murals and posters. Fariba Hajamadi (born Isfahan, Iran 1957) is an Iranian American artist whose work employs photography and painting on fabric, canvas, and wood panels, often presented as large scale installations. Marcos Grigorian
Marcos Grigorian, also known as Marco Grigorian ( hy, Մարկոս Գրիգորեան; fa, مارکو گريگوريان; December 5, 1925 – August 27, 2007) was an Iranian-Armenian and American artist and gallery owner, and he was a pioneer of Iranian modern art. Early life and education Grigorian was born in Kropotkin, Krasnodar Krai, Russia, to an Armenian family from Kars who had fled that city to escape massacres when it was captured by Turkey in 1920. In 1930, the family moved from Kropotkin to Iran, living first in the city of Tabriz, and then in Tehran. The Apadana gallery in Tehran opened in 1949, and began showing his work. After finishing his primary education in Iran, in 1950 he studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome. Mansoor Ghandriz
Mansoor Ghandriz ( fa, منصور قندریز; 2 March 1936 – 26 February 1966) was an Iranian painter and printmaker. He used Iranian forms in modern art and was one of the pioneers of the Saqqakhaneh movement. Ghandriz is best known for his abstract paintings of mythical creatures. Mokarrameh Ghanbari ( fa, مکرمه قنبری; born in 1928 – died October 24, 2005) was an Iranian self-taught painter who won several international art awards. She started painting at the age of 61 in 1991. Biography Mokarrameh was born in 1928 in the Darikhaneh village in the northern Mazandaran Province of Iran, and despite her talent, she never received any formal training in painting. Work She began painting at the age of 61, when she came across some artist's paintings which her son had left at her home. Mahmoud Farshchian ( fa, محمود فرشچیان, translit=Mahmud Faršciyân; born 24 January 1930) is an Iranian painter and educator. He was a master of Persian miniature painting. His paintings have been hosted by several museums and exhibitions worldwide. Early life and education Mahmoud Farshchian was born on January 24, 1930 in the city of Isfahan, Pahlavi Iran. Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian ( fa, منیر شاهرودی فرمانفرمائیان; 16 December 1922 – 20 April 2019) was an Iranian artist and a collector of traditional folk art. She is noted for having been one of the most prominent Iranian artists of the contemporary period, and she was the first artist to achieve an artistic practice that weds the geometric patterns and cut-glass mosaic techniques ( Āina-kāri) of her Iranian heritage with the rhythms of modern Western geometric abstraction.
