Hondurans
Hondurans (Spanish: ''Hondureñas'' or ''Hondureños'') are the citizens of Honduras. Most Hondurans live in Honduras, although there is also a significant Honduran diaspora, particularly in the United States, Spain, and many smaller communities in other countries around the world. Catracha or Catracho Latin Americans refer to a person from Honduras as a ' or '. The term was coined by Nicaraguans in the mid-19th century when Honduran General Florencio Xatruch returned from battle with his Honduran and Salvadoran soldiers after defeating American freebooters commanded by William Walker, whose purpose was to re-establish slavery and take over all of Central America. As the general and his soldiers returned, some Nicaraguans yelled out ', meaning "Here come Xatruch's boys!" However, Nicaraguans had so much trouble pronouncing the general's Catalan last name that they altered the phrase to ' and ultimately settled on ' or '. Francisco Bueso
Doctor Francisco Bueso Cuéllar (born 1860) was acting president of Honduras for less than two months, from 10 March to 27 April 1924. He served as vice president of Honduras in the cabinet of General Rafael López Gutiérrez. When López Gutiérrez died while in office, Bueso succeeded him. However, Bueso, in turn, was driven from the capital by rebels led by General Tiburcio Carías Andino, who took charge of the country as first chief of the Liberating Revolution. By 31 March, the United States had sent 176 officers and men from the cruiser to land at Amapala to quell the disturbance. Ramón Ernesto Cruz Uclés
Ramón Ernesto Cruz Uclés (4 January 1903 – 6 August 1985) was the President of Honduras from 7 June 1971 to 4 December 1972. Biography Cruz was born in San Juan de Flores in Honduras. His Father was Carlos Alberto Cruz and his mother Elisa Ucles Rosales. He was the eldest son, his brothers were: Herlinda, Carlos, Raul, Rene and Marta. In 1917 he attended the Escuela Normal for teachers where he graduated as primary school teacher. Later he went to Guatemala City where he obtained the title of ''Bachiller en Ciencias y Letras''. He graduated in Science and Law from the National Autonomous University of Honduras (''Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras'') in 1928(UCM). Roberto Suazo Córdova
Roberto Suazo Córdova (17 March 1927 – 22 December 2018) was the President of Honduras from 1982 until 1986. Suazo Córdova died on 22 December 2018 following an ulcer surgical operation at the age of 91. Presidency In 1981, Suazo Córdova was the President of the National Constituent Assembly that drew up the 1982 Honduran Constitution. He won a clear majority as a member of the Liberal Party of Honduras and became president in January 1982. The Liberal victory surprised many who believed the armed forces would interfere in favor of its erstwhile National Party allies. Colonel Gustavo Álvarez Martínez became head of the armed forces. Vicente Mejía Colindres
Vicente Mejía Colindres (6 April 1878 – 24 August 1966) was President of Honduras between 16 September and 5 October 1919; and again between 1 February 1929 and 1 February 1933. A successful beginning to his presidency was dampened by the effects of the 1929 economic depression. He had been democratically elected in the 1928 elections that saw an almost unprecedented peaceful transfer of power from the incumbent to an opposition party, and the same was to occur in 1932 when Tiburcio Carías Andino won and succeeded him. Juan Alberto Melgar Castro
Juan Alberto Melgar Castro (20 June 1930 – 2 December 1987) was a army officer in the Honduran military who served as the head of state of Honduras from 22 April 1975 to 7 August 1978, when he was removed from power by others in the military. Presidency General Melgar Castro took power in the 1975 Honduran coup d'état which removed Oswaldo López Arellano after his bribery scandal with United Fruit Company. During his rule, the process of land reform was slowed down, because of pressure from land-owning sectors and influential politicians. Victoriano Castellanos
Victoriano Castellanos Cortes (1795–1862) was President of Honduras from 4 February 1862 to 4 December 1862. Biography Victoriano Castellanos Corte was born in Santa Rosa de Copan on 23 March 1795. He was educated by the Catholic parish priest Pedro Antonio Pineda, and worked as a miner before becoming a politician. On 3 February 1860, he was elected Vice President of Honduras, the president being the General Jose Santos Guardiola, who was killed in Comayagua on 11 January 1862 by his own Presidential Guard. Mr. Victoriano became the provisional president of the nation on February 4 of that year, in the town of Guarita, today part of the Department of Lempira. Tiburcio Carías Andino (5 March 1876 – 23 December 1969) was a Honduran politician and military officer with the rank of Major General. Thirty-eighth president of the Republic of Honduras, constitutional period from 1924 and thereafter in the form of a dictatorial regime for 1933 until 1949. He was elected president of Honduras in the midst of a deep world depression. José Trinidad Cabañas
José Trinidad Cabañas Fiallos (9 June 1805– 8 January 1871) was a liberal Honduran military general and politician who served as President of Honduras on two separate occasions: From 1 March to 6 July 1852. And 31 December 1853 to 6 June 1855. His role in Honduran history began during the First Central American Civil War. He became a Central America hero, when he attempted to reunite Central America, during Francisco Morazán's tenure and after the unionist's death.
