Lincoln Academy (Lincoln or LA) is a private boarding and day school and town academy located in Newcastle, Maine, serving students in Lincoln County, the United States, and other nations around the world. Lincoln Academy is the fourth oldest secondary school in Maine. The majority of Lincoln Academy students live in local sending towns, including Newcastle, Damariscotta, Bristol, Jefferson, Nobleboro, and South Bristol. Similar to other town academies, the sending towns pay tuition for local students. History In 1801, the General Court of Massachusetts established Lincoln Academy to promote "Piety, Religion and Morality". 178 people from nine towns signed the original petition and donated over $3,000 to found the school. Lincoln Academy opened in October 1805 in a wooden building on River Road in Newcastle with 74 students. The tuition cost $257 per year and was paid by students' families. Lincoln Academy (Kings Mountain, North Carolina)
Lincoln Academy was an elementary school and secondary school, including boarding students, for African-American children in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, United States. It was founded in 1886 by Miss E. C. Prudden (or Pruden). In 1888, the American Missionary Association (AMA) of the Congregational Church took over the administration, and the school became co-educational in 1889. Location Established on at All Healing Springs, the school was situated at the foot of Crowders Mountain. It was southeast of the town of Kings Mountain and 4 miles west of Gastonia, on the national highway between New York City and Atlanta. Lincoln High School (also known as Lincoln Academy) was a high school located in Tallahassee, Florida, United States. It is commonly referred to as "Historic Lincoln High School" or "Old Lincoln". There is no connection with Leon County's current (and distant) Lincoln High School other than name. History Founding and early years Lincoln Academy opened in 1869 during Reconstruction as the first school for African Americans in Leon County, Florida. It was built by the Freedmen's Bureau. The Priory City of Lincoln Academy (abbreviated as Lincoln Academy and formerly The City of Lincoln Community College) is a co-educational secondary academy and sixth form in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England. It is a member of The Priory Federation of Academies and leads the government's School Games Organiser programme. It is also a specialist school in sports and health, exercising a partially selective intake in the former. Lincoln Memorial High School
Lincoln Memorial High School was the only public high school for African Americans in Manatee County, Florida prior to desegregation. Located in Palmetto, Florida, it was originally established as Lincoln Academy in 1930, making it Manatee County's first school for blacks. In 1949, Lincoln Academy was merged with Memorial High School, becoming Lincoln Memorial High School. The high school became Lincoln Middle School in 1969 after desegregation. History Established as Lincoln Academy serving area students up to 8th grade, in 1930 the school added 9th through 12th grades. It was Manatee County's first school for blacks. The Lincoln Academy of Illinois is a not-for-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to recognizing contributions made by living Illinoisans. Named for Abraham Lincoln, the Academy administers the ''Order of Lincoln'', the highest award given by the State of Illinois. Each year several persons are selected as Lincoln Laureates at a ceremony presided over by its president, the Governor of Illinois. The organization gives an annual Student Laureate award to one student from each four-year degree-granting institution of higher learning in Illinois, plus one student from the state's community colleges.
