The legislative districts of Camarines Norte are the representations of the province of Camarines Norte in the various national legislatures of the Philippines. The province is currently represented in the lower house of the Congress of the Philippines through its first and second congressional districts. History Camarines Norte was represented as part of Ambos Camarines, particularly the at-large district in the Malolos Congress from 1898 to 1899 and the first and second districts beginning in 1907, prior to being granted its own representation, after the division of Ambos Camarines in 1919 into Norte and Sur. From 1978 to 1984, it was part of the representation of Region V. The passage of Republic Act No. 9725 in 2009 abolished the lone district and divided the province into two districts starting in the 2010 elections. Provinces Of The Philippines
In the Philippines, provinces ( fil, lalawigan) are one of its primary political and administrative divisions. There are 82 provinces at present, which are further subdivided into component cities and municipalities. The local government units in the National Capital Region, as well as independent cities, are independent of any provincial government. Each province is governed by an elected legislature called the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and an elected governor. The provinces are grouped into seventeen regions based on geographical, cultural, and ethnological characteristics. Thirteen of these regions are numerically designated from north to south, while the National Capital Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, the Southwestern Tagalog Region, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao are only designated by acronyms. 2010 Philippine House Of Representatives Elections
The 2010 Philippine House of Representatives elections were held on May 10, 2010, to elect members to the House of Representatives of the Philippines to serve in the 15th Congress of the Philippines from June 30, 2010, to June 30, 2013. The Philippines uses parallel voting for seats in the House of Representatives; a voter has two votes: one for a representative from one's legislative district, and another for a sectoral representative via closed lists under the party-list system, with a 2% election threshold and 3-seat cap, when the parties with 2% of the national vote or more not meeting the 20% of the total seats, parties with less than 2% of the vote will get one seat each until the 20% requirement is met. Camarines Norte's 2nd congressional district is one of the two congressional districts of the Philippines in Camarines Norte. It has been represented in the House of Representatives of the Philippines since 2010. Previously included in Camarines Norte's at-large congressional district, it includes the eastern half of the province, bordering Camarines Sur. Paracale, officially the Municipality of Paracale ( tl, Bayan ng Paracale), is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Camarines Norte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 60,198 people. Paracle’s economy is driven by agriculture and small scale, often informal gold mining and gold ore processing. Rice, corn, coconut and root crops and vegetables are the major agricultural products. Being a coastal community with a number of historical sites and providing boat access to Calaguas Group of Islands it also has some claim as a tourist destination. Capalonga
Capalonga, officially the Municipality of Capalonga ( tl, Bayan ng Capalonga), is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Camarines Norte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 36,223 people. History Agtas and Dumagats, are believed to be the first inhabitants of village used to be called "Apalong". This name was derived from a wild plant called "Palong Manok", which looks like a rooster's comb. It is said that whenever the settlers of Apalong went to other places and asked where they came from, the usual reply is "We came from Kapalungan".
