It was entered into the 31st Berlin International Film Festival where it won an Honourable Mention. Jean-Jacques Andrien (born 1 June 1944) is a Belgian film director. Le Monde deem his film '' Le Grand Paysage d'Alexis Droeven'' (1981), to be ''the first great Film of a Walloon cinema'' ''This film addresses two problems; the first is that of Belgium's region, site of a bitter conflict between Flemish and Walloon inhabitants, and the second that of a dramatic changes that have affected the agricultural world.'' The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non-English-speaking films produced outside the United States. The award is handed out annually, and is accepted by the winning film's director, although it is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. Countries are invited by the Academy to submit their best films for competition according to strict rules, with only one film being accepted from each country. Maurice Garrel (24 February 1923 – 4 June 2011) was a French film actor. Garrel was born in Saint-Servais, Isère. He appeared in over a hundred films and was nominated twice for a César Award for best supporting actor: in 1991 for '' La Discrète'' and in 2005 for ''Kings and Queen''.
