Layton Station (FrontRunner)
Layton station is a FrontRunner commuter rail station in Layton, Utah. It is operated by the Utah Transit Authority (UTA). Description The station is located at 150 South Main Street ( SR-126) on approximately 12.5 acres of land and is easily accessed from I-15 by way of the new Layton Parkway interchange. The station is near the south end of Layton's historic downtown area, which had suffered from a hard-to-access location in a highly acute wedge bounded by I-15 on the northeast and the railroad tracks on the southwest. The railroad tracks have also presented enough of a barrier that the area west of the station and the tracks is still undeveloped despite its proximity to the historic downtown. Layton Oregon Short Line Railroad Station
The Layton Oregon Short Line Railroad Station is a historic railroad depot in Layton, Utah, United States. The depot was opened in 1912 alongside the tracks of the Oregon Short Line Railroad, which at that time was a subsidiary of (and later merged into) the Union Pacific Railroad. The depot was used for both freight and passenger traffic until the 1960s. Description In 1972 the depot building was sold with the stipulation it be removed from the original site. The new owner moved the building approximately 1,200 feet to the southeast, flipping the original trackside of the building around to the east, but keeping the depot alongside the railroad tracks. The original site of the depot is just southeast of Layton's Veterans Park on Gentile Street. State Route 126 (SR-126) is a highway completely within the Ogden-Clearfield metropolitan area in northern Utah that makes a loop around Interstate 15 in its more than twenty-one mile path. The street is given the names Main Street, 1900 West and 2000 West respectively from south to north. Previous to 1977, SR-126 was a road in southern Utah. A portion of the highway is an old routing of US-91. Route description After its southern terminus, the route heads northwest in Layton. After entering Clearfield, the route turns straight to the north. It continues this direction through Sunset, Roy, and West Haven before veering to the northwest when the highway reaches Marriott-Slaterville.
