Lawrenceville is a city in and the county seat of Gwinnett County, Georgia, United States. It is a suburb of Atlanta, located approximately northeast of downtown. Lawrenceville is an unincorporated community in central German Township, Clark County, Ohio, United States. It is part of the Springfield, Ohio Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 302 at the 2000 census, at which time it was a village. In 2005, the residents of Lawrenceville voted to dissolve the corporation, ending Lawrenceville's village status. History Lawrenceville was originally known as Noblesville, and under the latter name was platted in 1843. When a post office was established in the community, the original name was changed, there being another post office in the state with a similar name. A post office called Lawrenceville was established in 1875, and remained in operation until 1901. The name "Lawrenceville" honors U.S. Rep. Lawrenceville is a borough in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. The population was 690 at the 2020 census. Geography Lawrenceville is located at (41.996564, -77.125159). It is at the intersection of Pennsylvania Route 287 and Pennsylvania Route 49. The only traffic light in town can be found at this intersection. Lawrenceville is on the banks of the Tioga and Cowanesque rivers. The confluence of these streams is just outside downtown Lawrenceville. Cowanesque Lake, a US Army Corps of Engineers flood prevention lake is just to the west of town on Pennsylvania Route 49. Lawrenceville is one of the largest neighborhood areas in Pittsburgh in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It is located northeast of downtown, and like many of the city's riverfront neighborhoods, it has an industrial past. The city considers Lawrenceville three neighborhoods, Upper Lawrenceville, Central Lawrenceville, and Lower Lawrenceville, but these distinctions have little practical effect. Accordingly, Lawrenceville is almost universally treated as being a single large neighborhood. Lawrenceville is a town in Brunswick County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,438 at the 2010 census. Located by the Meherrin River, it is the county seat of Brunswick County. In colonial times, Lieutenant Governor Alexander Spotswood had a stockade built nearby, called Fort Christanna, where converted Native American allies were housed and educated. Historically black Saint Paul's College, founded in 1888 and affiliated with the Episcopal Church, operated here until 2013. Lumber, tobacco, livestock, and other farm products are grown in the area. In a county along the southern border of the state, the town is near the northernmost area for cotton growing. Lawrenceville is an unincorporated community in northeastern Hancock County, West Virginia, United States. It is directly adjacent to the city of Chester, and has been closely connected to it throughout its history. It is part of the Weirton–Steubenville metropolitan area. Lawrenceville is a Village municipality in the Le Val-Saint-François Regional County Municipality in the Estrie region of Quebec, Canada. It is situated west of Sherbrooke, near the Black River. Around 650 Lawrence villagers are counted in an area of 17 square kilometers. History The name of the village honors Mr. Henry Lawrence, son of Isaac Lawrence who originally came from Canaan, Connecticut, and moved to Shefford Township in 1794 settling his family near Lake Waterloo between Fulford and Waterloo. In 1800 the township of Stukely was created, and Henry and his brother Erastus became Samuel Willard's associates and both moved to South Stukely in 1804. Erastus died 8 years later. In 1836 Henry Lawrence moved to the northern part of Stukely and built a sawmill and flourmill on an island which became part of Lawrenceville.
