Geography Located in the central part of the county, it borders the following townships: * Aid Township - north * Mason Township - northeast corner * Windsor Township - east * Union Township - southeast corner * Fayette Township - south * Perry Township - southwest * Upper Township - west * Elizabeth Township - northwest It is the only county township without a border on another county. Charles Mix County is a county in the U.S. state of South Dakota. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 9,373. Its county seat is Lake Andes. The county was created in 1862 and organized in 1879. It was named for Charles Eli Mix, an official of the Bureau of Indian Affairs influential in signing a peace treaty with the local Lakota Indian tribes. The easternmost approximately 60% of the county comprises the Yankton Indian Reservation. The Papineau Trading Post, whose building is now in Geddes, South Dakota, was an early county seat. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , all land. Lawrence Township forms the western, southern and eastern borders of Lawrenceville. The township is bordered by the Towns of Tuscarora, Lindley, and Caton in Steuben County, New York to the north, Jackson Township to the east, Tioga Township to the south, Farmington Township to the south and west and Nelson Township to the west. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 1,721 people, 659 households, and 506 families residing in the township. The population density was 49.9 people per square mile (19.3/km2). Lawrence Township borders the townships of Boggs, Bradford, Goshen, Huston, Knox, Pike and Pine in Clearfield County, as well as Benezette and Jay Townships in Elk County to the north. Lawrence County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 17,415. The county seat is Walnut Ridge. Lawrence County is Arkansas's second county, formed on January 15, 1815, and named for Captain James Lawrence who fought in the War of 1812. It is an alcohol prohibition or dry county. History Following the Louisiana Purchase, the area currently encompassing Lawrence County was contained within the Louisiana Territory from 1805 to 1812, and the Missouri Territory from 1812 until the creation of Arkansas Territory in 1819. While the southern portion of Missouri Territory began to be settled, Lawrence County was created on January 15, 1815 from New Madrid County and Arkansas County.
